L'Arête de Chalamon – Charming Chalet Between Castle, Lake, and Mountains

Welcome to L'Arête de Chalamon, a charming chalet in Menthon-Saint-Bernard offering exceptional panoramic views of Menthon Castle, Lake Annecy, and the Alpine mountains.

The name tells its story: 'L'Arête' evokes the ridge between landscape and horizon, while 'Chalamon' draws inspiration from the three treasures surrounding the chalet—the castle, the lake, and the mountains.

This chalet is a family home passed down through generations. After holding the memories of my grandparents and parents, it now welcomes a new generation. We have preserved its warm spirit while adding the comfort needed to create new memories.

Enjoy a peaceful, sunny setting with a large green, wooded property, close to amenities: the village center is within walking distance, the beach is about 10 minutes away, and Annecy is just 8 km away.

Perfect for families or friends, in summer or winter, the chalet lets you enjoy Lake Annecy (swimming, water sports, cycling, hiking) and discover Annecy, the “Venice of the Alps,” as well as the landscapes of Haute-Savoie.

In winter, the Grand-Bornand and La Clusaz ski resorts are about 30 minutes away for alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing.

Blending traditional charm and modern comfort, the chalet features a fully equipped kitchen, spacious double living room, terrace with panoramic views, free Wi-Fi, TV, a game room, and many amenities.

A car is recommended to explore the area. The property offers parking for up to 3 vehicles.

L'Arête de Chalamon invites you to a unique experience between heritage, lake, and mountains in one of the most beautiful areas of the Alps.

Magnificent - the views will stay with me forever

The location of this chalet is just exceptional & the generous sized balcony meant we could all enjoy them. The property inside is functional & we had everything we needed. There are some lovely walks from the chalet, both towards the mountains & down to the lake. It was a fabulous place to stay with my family.

Lovely vacation in Menthon

We spent 10 wonderful days at this chalet in Menthon. It was great to be able to walk into town for coffee/bread in the morning, walk to the lake and the views are amazing. Even with the heat wave, we stayed quite cool in the downstairs bedrooms. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great House with Amazing Views

We enjoyed our stay. Highlight was the view of the mountains chateau and lake from the large balcony. Large house ideal for 5 of us Not given 5 stars as there is only one toilet. But otherwise this house is great and I would recommend

A family of five had a wonderful vacation in Menthos / Annecy. The house is well equipped for family. The beds are a bit to small. We could walk to the beach (10 min), supermarket and restaurants. The owners were very helpful. Agnes

Beautiful view

Overall, the chalet is beautiful. Three of the four sleeping rooms as well as the living room and balcony have a stunning 180 degree view. The beds are comfortable and the rest of the house is exactly as described and shown in the pictures. The only downside is that the kitchen does not offer much working space. We would book it again.

Amazing chalet

A very beautiful chalet in an amazing location. The host was very friendly and explained everything in the house very detailed when we arrived. The chalet had everything we needed ( even more - especially the kitchen equipment had nothing missing) and was very child friendly ( garden, outdoor - indoor toys, baby bed, dvds, etc). We had a very nice time and felt really home thanks to its nice and cosy decoration and having all we needed present in the chalet. We marked it as a destination that we surely would like to return! A top accommodation in Annecy!

Beautiful cottage & location, perfect for families

We've just spent an unforgettable week here with our kids (aged 3 and 9). The cottage is beautiful - it's clean and comfortable, the views from the balcony and the rooms are incredible, and the garden is huge. The location is perfect - a scenic 5-minute walk to the village, ten minutes to the lakeside and a ten-minute drive to Annecy. We found lots of family-friendly things to do - beaches, walking around stunning Annecy, gondola rides and walks in the mountains, bike hire on the lake shore... and there's lots of amenities and fantastic (reasonably priced) restaurants nearby. 100% recommended!

Spectacular views

Excellent location with beautiful views 180 degrees. Very convenient and within walking distance to the town below, and an easy drive to Annecy and all around the lake. Inside is a little dated and needs new bedding, including mattresses and pillows -- all very lumpy. (Once these are replaced, will give 4 stars.) Nice laundry room in the basement. Lovely, very sweet owner.

Comfortable chalet In spectacular setting

The chalet is situated on a very quiet road with spectacular views of the lake and mountains from the balcony. The chalet is spacious and comfortable on 2 floors. We were 6 adults staying with plenty of room however although there are 2 bathrooms ( one upstairs and one downstairs) there is only one toilet. The drive way is long and narrow and parking 3 cars on it was a bit difficult .

Stunning property in a stunning area!

A gorgeous place to spend time, waling distance from all necessities, supermarket, bakery, café culture, and down to the bus stop which, for 1.5 euros takes you to the Centre of Annecy. Hired bikes, completed paragliding, even had a few climb the Col de Colombiere for a cyclists dream, and had fantastic days by the lake, the list of things to do is endless. The property is owned and maintained by a fantastic family and they could not do enough to help , and I would recommend this property to any one wanting a fantastic time in and around Annecy...You will not be disappointed and we will be back for sure!

A fantastic stay in a wonderful surrounding

We were 5 days in this nice chalet. It is very authentic and reminded me to the good old times of my childhood. You can have fantastic breakfast on the big balcony. In the morning you can observe the paraglider from the mountain. Every morning we went to the city center - really a nice walk - although steep - to get fresh things from the bakery. It feels like you would visit friends. The lovely Madame Moine welcomed us and gave us recommendations. Mr. Moine gave us a lot of support with our booking.

Great Location

The house has an amazing location with views of Chateau de Menthon and Lake Annecy. The living area and bedrooms are very comfortable. The only thing is that the kitchen is small, but definitely workable. We cooked every night and sat in the dining room to do all the prep. The renters were very nice and helpful. The house was also stocked with soap, sponges, dishwasher tabs, washing detergent and some food items like sugar and coffee which is alway a nice bonus :)

Best location on Lake Annecy

The chalet is a short walk up the hill from Menthon centre, literally 5 minutes. The property enjoys commanding views of the area which are breath taking and certainly well worth the walk. The chalet has a wonderful balcony which we used everyday for eating and relaxing. There are four bedrooms so plenty of room for a large family. Good off road parking which was useful as we did not have to use the car for our whole stay as there is a free bus from the village, number 60, which takes you into Annecy. I'm a keen cyclist so a large garage was really handy to store my bike. We can't fault this property, it's exactly as Alexander has published and he is always on line to answer any questions. We will be returning. Love the place.

nice house beautiful surroundings super view

The cottage was very nice we had a super nice view. The environment was also very beautiful. Unfortunately, we did not see the owner, but the communication was very good via the app. Even after we got home. We were there with our adult children with their partners, they also enjoyed it very much. At the water you had a nice restaurant chalet du por menthon SA where they are very friendly and could eat well. We looked up the mountain and saw paragliders coming down constantly. The kids have done it too. The view of the lake was also beautiful. Annecy is a nice town and lots to do at the lake. Also done a day in Geneva and Les Gorges Du Fier also recommended. This is repeatable.

Relaxing stay

We had a great week here; we loved the huge balcony where we spent many hours taking in the views of lake, mountains, hot air balloons, paragliders etc. The house in in a quiet residential area with Chateau de Menthon st Bernard is almost directly above the terrace. The walk to the lovely local boulangerie is at least 10 minutes via a footpath downhill. Harder coming back! Mr Moine was extremely helpful and quick to respond. Mme Moine was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and this included driving to the nearest supermarket with us following behind to ensure we found it ok. The house is large , we didn’t use the downstairs at all, except one bedroom. We did find the kitchen and bathroom quite basic, could do with modernising. Same for the ground floor outside terrace. The drive is tarmac; narrow and steep. The parking area is gravel though, with a drop onto it especially hard for a low car. We drove to the beach, there’s plenty of free parking. We hired a boat on the lake, highly recommended. We took the bus to Annecy one day , the bus stop is easy to find in village centre. But the views are what we came for. Beautiful!
