All the staff were very friendly and welcoming! The hotel was only a few minutes walk to the beach and there were a variety of modest dining options on the beach or near the town square. The hotel had a food service and weekend bar service. We really enjoyed the pool area and spent some relaxing by the pool. We were picked up at the hotel to go on a fabulous guided canoe tour through the mangroves where we saw a large variety of birds including flamingos! The hotel staff helped us with the motel taxi transport to the tour site. Make sure you book a room with a window view. Thanks again to all the staff at this wonderful hotel.

It is a great town to visit fora couple days. This hotel is very pleasant. Well run and great breakfast. Not much English spoken but very nice people who take care of you anyway.
We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had left a nightlight/charger in the bathroom and 2 days later after I realized we had left it, I was able to recover it. We decided to stay longer in Celestún than originally planned. We needed to change to a different hotel because Don Gonzalo’s does not take credit cards. Cash only. It does say this on hotels.com, but only if you click on more property information or read it in a review. Breakfast was good, but again be prepared to pay cash each day. There is only one ATM (@Willy’s on the square)that works for foreigners. The hotel is a short walk to the beach, not on the beach. The beds are a bit hard. Most restaurants are on the beach and only a few stay open past 6pm. Otherwise there were 2 restaurants we found on the square that were open past 6pm.
Beautiful little hotel. Very helpful & friendly staff.
However, the road noise & roosters were loud. Not the hotels fault, just part of the experience.
Very close to everything in the small village.
The staff were very nice and the room was clean. Just outside our hotel a family kept chickens. Sadly the rooster crowed most of the night. It was very difficult to sleep.
Room facilities and staff were good. Excellent location. If u are a light sleeper be aware of the barking dogs and roosters next door at a residence. Non stop all night, and all rooms are subject to the noise.
Amazing hotel! Clean and so close to the beach. The front desk ladies are the most accommodating & sweet. They held onto to our luggages after we checked out and always were greeting us. Would recommend to my friends and family
Very nice pool as well
The room was clean and everything functioned properly. The nights were disrupted by a barking dog & nonstop rooster at the property next door. Other than the noise, it was a great location, short distance to the town square & the beach.
Clean comfortable and close to the beach
Gave us a great room overlooking the pool
Good AC,,clean and quite
Good staff
Close to the beach, Pool was adequate
Sea was great
All and all, would stay there again
This hotel was very nice, clean and the most modern hotel that we stayed in for our 12 day trip. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel is very nice. Close to the town and the beach. Unfortunately, the pool was under renovation the entire time that we were there. It looked like it would be lovely though.
We were very surprised to find out that they only take cash, no credit cards. This meant a trip to the only ATM in town which charged a whopping 174 pesos service fee!
The breakfast in the small restaurant in the lobby was very good and the service was excellent. On Valentine’s Day they were open for a special pasta dinner. It was excellent. I suggest that next time they host an evening dinner, it would be nice to have some Mexican red and white wines available. It would complement the meal and be an opportunity to showcase the great Mexican wines.
There are a few roosters living right outside the back of the hotel, they wake up about 5AM, so if I ever return, I will bring earplugs.
Great location! Within walking distance from the beach and local stores. Hotel has all necessary amenities including hot water and AC. We only staid one night but loved this hotel more than the one in Tulum which didn't have hot water and the power kept cutting off. For a small town, you can't go wrong with Don Gonzalo!
