Disappointing on arrival as expecting a pretty hotel with hanging baskets of flowers. The hotel looked very tired & dull. Parking was good, yes the entrance is narrow but take it slow & itâs fine.
Check in was quick & the gentleman was friendly.
We booked a superior room including breakfast. Room was large & ok for a night but also looked tired, windows would not open & was very stuffy with poor lighting. Wardrobe door kept springing open in front of exit door. Toiletries not as advertised. Netflix did not work. No fridge in room had to use a communal fridge in a different one. Breakfast was just ok, coffee was good. Lisa was very friendly & gave us some local information which was helpful. Would we stay again or recommend - no as felt very overpriced & probably living off previous great reviews. Hotel appears to be up for sale so this may explain why sadly things have slipped. A real shame as a lovely old grade II listed building.
Stayed here with a work colleague, both of us really enjoyed are stay. Room super comfy and food was excellent. Met with the owners who were very welcoming and treated us extremely well. Would stay again. Many thanks.
I've stayed in many hotels and can't think of one where the owners went out of their way to help as much as here. At check in was greated with a very friendly host, without asking was offered a room upgrade. Extra's in the room such as a glass of sherry was a nice touch.
Nothing was too much trouble and whilst breakfast was a pre-order menu, the rules were tick exactly what you want and it will be made fresh for you.
When my wife woke up poorly, Lisa couldnt have done more to help, even blocking the room from other bookings incase we needed to stay.
Highly recommend, we will definately be back when in the area next
An old and characterful property on the high street of Dunster so everything is walkable. Car park entrance is narrow and not suitable for anything other than a small saloon. I recommend parking in the pay and display 1/4 mile away. Worth the ÂŁ6.10
Comfortable, pleasant stay, attentive friendly family management. Useful recommendations for evening dining. Excellent, efficiently delivered breakfasts, after selection the evening before.
Everything i have marked above. John & Lisa were excellent hosts & catered for all our needs. You could not fault breakfast. Plenty of choices.
Highly recommend Dunster Castle Hotel.
We had a very enjoyable stay. Staff really lovely and made us very welcome. The main restaurant is closed most nights except Sunday and Monday but donât let this stop you as they recommend lovely places around and all walkable
Iâd try and reserve a table at one just to stop any dissapointment if you arrive late.
Only reason I put 4 instead of 5 was because the hot water tap wouldnât go on but I had a lovely shower instead. Itâs the onky thing I could fault.
Lovely rooms and it had all nice extras like a Sherry in the room and nice shampoos etc
Nice place close to Dunster Castle. An old charming place to stay, it's best days is in the past. It have character and a good atmosphere. The hosts are service minded, very helpful and accommodating. Got it's own parking in the back, but a tight squeeze to get through the passageway, not for big vehicles.
Beautiful old and well decorated hotel. The Sunday roast dinner is the best Easy walking to Dunster Castle which is a must see. A highly recommended place to stay.
Lovely hotel, really liked the quirky decor in the breakfast / dining area. Really nice comfy bed and delicious breakfast. The owners lovely and friendly, id definitely stay there again ( and it had parking which was a bonus for Dunster)
