Parsonage Farm Stables, with stunning views down to the sea
Parsonage Farm Stables is almost 1000 years old, the hayloft of a farm that has been occupied since the time of the Domesday Book. It's ideal for walkers and dog lovers, offering easy access to all the splendours of Exmoor. Red deer often visit the garden, much to the owner's dismay, and the gentle cluck of our tame chickens creates a relaxing atmosphere throughout the year. Stunning in Summer, with beautiful gardens, and reassuringly cosy in Winter. Sometimes you're above the clouds, and the feeling is rather special. It's not surprising that Coleridge wrote Kubla Khan in this little valley; you can sense the history today.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this historic property. Itâs off the beaten track, but the peace and quiet is your reward for getting there. The view to the Bristol Channel from the garden and kitchen window, meant you spent your time watching clouds rolling past or boats going up and down. It gave us a good base to visit parts of Somerset and North Devon.
Wij zijn hier een week geweest en dat is eigenlijk te kort . De omgeving is prachtig . Het huis is compleet , comfortabel en schoon. Aardige gastvrije eigenaar. Veel gewandeld en gefotografeerd. Zeer de moeite waard.
We loved our stay at the Parsonage Farm Stables. The location is in the Exmoor National Park. The views out over the Bristol Channel towards Wales are very beautiful. The cottage itself is authentic and quirky and well equipped. You can start many walks from the doorstep, the south west coastpath is a stones throw away. And so is the rest of Exmoor. Moors or sea, you are spoiled for choice. It is very quiet, no traffic. We felt welcome and the host replies very quick when you have questions. Very flexibel, so no stress when you arrive a bit later than planned as we did because of the traffic. There are other holiday lets on the premises, but you have all the privacy if you wish so. The location is quite remote, which we loved. But you must not be in a hurry because the lane is single file track and you have to wait for the sheep and gamebirds to clear the way. If your party is only adults, maybe the second bedroom is a bit on the small side. The ceilings are high, but large people may have to duck at the doors, as is the case with many cottages.
Jeremy and Paivi are wonderful hosts, and their whole farm is a little treasure.
We found everything needed (and more) in the goergeous rooms, which are furnished with loving attention to details.
The surroundings and the landscape is quite stunning, you can go for walks and see lots of native wildlife. We loved to sit in the garden and enjoy the sight and the visits of the chicken ;-)
The farm is rather secluded, so it's very peaceful and calm, and you need a car for purchases or excursions to for example Exmoor or one of the nice little towns like Lynton or Porlock.
We spent two weeks at Parsonage Farm Stables and had a really extraordinary time - thank you very much, we'd love to come back someday!
We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely place. The quietness, the nature, the spectular view at the landscape and the sea and a cosy home. Thank you Paivi and Jeremy for being our very and helpful hosts. and regards to the "boys".
Farm is quite remote but beautifully situated 1200 feet above the Bristol Channel. Very roomy and charming. Very comfortable facilities and lovely, helpful hosts. Fresh eggs for breakfast from the friendly chickens! A bench overlooking the sea for our happy hour, wonderful walks to interesting and ancient places. Lots of wildlife - deer, pheasant, grouse, wild ponies up on the nearby moor. We'd love to return.
This cottage has one of the best views youâll get anywhere. It is so quiet and peaceful and the cottage so comfortable and easy. You really can relax. Jeremy and his wife are such lovely friendly people. Weâll be back for sure.
Stunning property and surroundings, everything you need for a relaxing break!
Adults and kids loved every min and kids cried as they didnât want to leave, that says everything
beautiful location with historical background. truly a home from which to discover the beautiful and surprising area of Exmoor. beautiful sea view and hospitable reception.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was ideal for us and our dogs with lots of lovely walks close by . It was very peaceful with lovely views. Parking was very easy and communication from the owner was great. The cottage was really cosy and had everything we needed . The owner was very friendly and helpful and our son enjoyed playing table tennis on the table provided in the garage when the weather wasnât so good.
We had a fantastic holiday in this beautiful, cosy and comfortable cottage. The off the beaten track location was breathtaking and so peaceful. It was perfect for escaping, but also great for exploring wonderful Exmoor and beyond. Jeremy and Paivi were also wonderful hosts, and our schnauzer Rubie loved meeting their resident schnauzers too! We had such a fantastic holiday, one of our best!
