Pros: Location is right next to shops and restaurants. Room decor and furniture are simple but updated. Bed was comfy Cons: Registration area is small and outdated. Super noisy at night and the walls are thin. Room had no air conditioner and the old heater didn't seem to work. It was freezing in the morning. The room is tiny! Bathroom sink was a bit dirty and the shower curtains were torn. Outdoors is outdated, dingy. Looks better at night.

We have stayed here twice, and the first time was perfect!! Lovely courtyard view out the dutch door, and a really nice updated room. Second (most recent) time, we got put in a hallway corner room next to the storage closet, with only a view of the neighboring hotel’s backside, which wasn’t great. No view of the courtyard either, and the room did not have the nice built in closets or as new updates as the first room we had. The room was overall clean and comfortable however there were quite a few scuffs and chips in the bathroom infrastructure, which looked quite worn and less updated than the first room we stayed in. The parking situation also gets quite packed and if you don’t snag a spot early, there isn’t much you can do. Other than that, this is a quiet and convenient location for walking around carmel and seeing all there is to offer. Very close to green space, shops and restaurants at carmel plaza, and a grocery store. Also has a good basic continental breakfast. A great value for the price all-around so long as you don’t get put in one of the hallway rooms.

Great location

Loved the location. Clean, easy access, quiet, beds were comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection, however there is not much room to sit by the reception, it’s a tiny area; therefore most guests grabbed their food and left. Staff was friendly and provided us with a map of the area. Bruno’s market it’s right behind it so it was easy to grab a sandwich, water and snacks, totally recommend it. Parking was the only downside, they only have a handful of parking spots and there are 2hr parking around the area.

I booked this hotel after seeing good reviews of it. It is walkable to downtown Carmel which was a plus, however I requested a room second floor based on reviews saying there was a lot of noise on the first floor. I arrived and heard the front desk give a woman in front of me a 2nd floor room then tell me there weren’t any available. When I stepped out for a minute the front desk told my fiance they were “completely sold out” for the night other than our first story room, but when I came back in he said he had one on the second floor for 30$ more a night because it is a kind bed. I said ok that is fine and had him transfer me to that room. We got to the room and it was a double bed. At this point we were frustrated but took it for what it is. Terrible service here, not soundproof at all even on the second floor I would not stay here again. The front desk lying was ridiculous to me.

The hotel manager was very nice and friendly. Nice complementary breakfast. However, the room was not cleaned daily, had to request to be cleaned, including emptying the trash cans. Parking was a problem too.

The Comfort Inn Carmel by the Sea is the perfect way to spend your time in Carmel. The hotel is very clean and the service is absolutely exceptional. I challenge anyone to find a better value in the area. The hotel is in the perfect location to walk all of Carmel and parking is extremely convenient. The rooms were very nice.

We had a wonderful stay at the Comfort Inn Carmel! The staff at the front desk was wonderful. The rooms were recently updated and clean. Right on Ocean Blvd. Steps away from great shopping and dining. We will be back for sure!

The staff was very kind and allowed us to check in early so we could park our cars in the parking lot and walk into town. We were also able to leave our cars a bit after check out which was super helpful. We had a pleasant stay!

Best Manager anywhere!

Manager named “OM” was very helpful and hospitable, offering me a tour of rooms to choose from for early check-in. He gave our stay a peaceful and protected feeling. His warmth and friendliness made us wish to return again in the future!

We could not check-in because the there was no record of our reservation from Hotels.com. Hotels.com took the money from our account from this reservation but did not get us a room. Total rip-off. Shame on you Hotels.com. I will call hotels directly from here on out. We want our money refunded.
