Getting Around:
Many roads in the high desert are dirt, so please take it slow. While a car is required to get around, a four wheel drive car is not if you follow our directions, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain.
PLEASE NOTE that names of streets on maps and on street signs often differ in Morongo Valley, and some roads can be quite difficult as they are not publicly maintained. Please be sure to follow our turn-by-turn directions.
Other Things to Note:
â POOL AND HOT TUB HEATING:
The hot tub is always free to heat. However, during the cooler months, there are extra charges for pool heating, see below. If you want the pool heated during these months, please let us know 48 hours before you arrive.
â Extra Charges for Pool Heating:
â May/September: $150 per night
â October and April: $200 per night
â November through March: Pool heating not available
No jumping, diving, running or rough play near the pool. No glass can be around the pool and hot tub, there are plastic cups in the kitchen to be used outside. Please mind the quiet hours (no loud noises after 10pm). No intoxicated persons may use the pool or hot tub.
NO LIFEGUARD WILL BE ON DUTY - YOU SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK.
â EVENTS & COMMERCIAL PHOTOSHOOTS: Are not permitted without prior approval, applicable permit and additional fees.
â DOGS: Dogs are welcome and there is a one time fee of $100. Maximum of 2 Dogs allowed. No other types of animals are authorized.
â SOCIAL MEDIA: If you plan on sharing your experience on social media, please mention us!
â CELL SERVICE: Cell phone service availability and quality in the high desert varies by service provider. This is particularly true in the more remote areas of Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, and Pioneertown. Please be prepared by enabling wifi calling or downloading a VOIP program.
â ROAD CONDITIONS: Many roads are dirt, so please take it slow. A four wheel drive car is not required, but note that roads will often have ruts, particularly after a rain
â WILDLIFE: During the Spring & Summer, honeybees gather near the far end of the pool (and the spa). They are not aggressive and will typically ignore swimmers. We have created two small diversion pools and are working to get them to seek water elsewhere. We are very respectful of wildlife and have been working with experts from the National Park Service to mitigate this. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Interaction with Guests:
Our property manager, Homestead Modern, is local and has staff available at all times.
Never found washer and dryer. Thought it was strange and made us feel uncomfortable that the property manager or other employee was waiting at the end of the driveway for us to leave at time of check out.
Such a beautiful, clean, and special place! The host communicated all the needs for the trip. Plus had a neat website with all the local things to do. Very quiet and peaceful place!
Many of the solar lights did not work due to damage or I suspect they needed new solar batteries. It gets quite dark, which was amazing, but my nephew took a tumble because of the darkness. The pool was beautiful but the pool and jet sauna lights did not work. ( Bummer) This one was on me, I didn't realize the location did not have a washer/dryer so be aware of that. Lastly, I was disappointed with the shower head. It just sprayed all over the place with minimal pressure and the plastic strip that is suppose to block the water from getting all over the bathroom floor didn't do the job. On the bright side, the location is remote but not so much so that one feel's out in the middle of nowhere. The terrain and the stars were breathtaking and it was a pleasure to have a property management team respond so quickly and kindly.
Really enjoyed the property. The house was a perfect place for relaxation and feeling "off the grid" even though we were still close to everything. Loved seeing all the natural wildlife. road runners and so many lizards.
The pool and hot tub were well used after our Joshua tree hikes .
Would stay here again â€ïž
This home looks absolutely nothing like the pictures online!! VRBO makes it seem well maintained, clean, with large rooms and that is not what we got. Our group - Me, best friend, other friend and his wife were all underwhelmed. The house had SO LITTLE of the basic things. The bath mat was one tiny squire that literally looked meant for a 2 year old. I immediately ordered one from Loweâs. I was also shocked to find no pool umbrellas as it is blistering hot there in the spring / summer!! So I bought 2 umbrellas and had them delivered. We also discovered that
The pool was NOT heated and freezing. I read in the welcome package the pool wouldnât be heated in winter months, but this is late April / Summer so it shouldâve absolutely have been heated up. I called the company to find out ANY info on the pool and have not one phone call back in 48 hours. In the info packet you obtain before you arrive the directions are so sparse. And to bring the pool issue again we LUCKILY ran in to their pool many, but he too had no idea how to fix it. Back to the items that were not provided - there were only 2 sets of TINY shower towels, 2 washcloths, and 2 hand towels. And maybe some 15 year old pool towels that were so small they couldâve fit a toddler. Luckily I am EXTREMELY OCD and brought my own beach towels which I chose to leave there so that this doesnât happen to another person or family. So dear Morongo Stat, now you have brand new towels, 2 beach umbrellas, and a bath mat!
It really pains me to say that this place was a 1/10 but I would never go back.
Absolutely loved the property! The pool and spa were wonderful and the little house was well equipped and cozy. We loved the isolation and amazing views! We will definitely e staying here again!
girlfriend and I booked this place for the weekend. What a lovely place. The place has everything you will need to enjoy yourself, from swimming to a jacuzzi. Our dog was also having a blast enjoying the outdoors. The communication with the host was great and quick. The place was perfect. We love it so much we wish we could stay longer. Will definitely stay here in the future. Thanks for an awesome weekend.
I want to purchase this property. Wow...just wow.
To give context, we are from Manhattan and do not get to experience seclusion and remote beauty too often.
The property is incredible. Very intimate inside and perfect for a couple. The views are amazing and the property is very clean and well kept. The property contained everything needed for an extended or short stay. Bring food and clothes and you are well taken care of. There are so many towns very close (Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, etc.). There is even a washer/dryer located on the outside of the cottage in a shed and was invaluable.
The property land is larger than we thought and on a hill with simply fantastic 360 views. You can stroll a little away from the property but I am not sure where property lines are so we didn't venture too far (but fun small hikes). The BBQ out back was so much fun and watching the sunrise with coffee or sunset with some wine was very relaxing.
The management company has been the best we have ever experienced through VRBO. We had many questions because we stayed during the Apple fires that started 30 miles away from the property. Management sent daily (sometimes more) updates and would return concerned questions within minutes. If a question arose, they were quick to respond and really made us feel comfortable. Check-in was extremely easy and the provided binder was full of useful suggestions and guides.
Our two complaints were 1) the internet. It is satellite and did not work for the 5 days we were there. This could be because of the smoke from the fires (although there were some clear days) but we were hoping to get some work done (being that we are all remote now). The other 2) is cell phone reception as it is extremely limited and only seemed to work well in the bedroom. We have AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile and AT&T was the only provider that seemed to work (and again only in the bedroom).
Lastly, although you can get to the property with almost any vehicle, I would strongly suggest an SUV or larger. The road to the property is dirt and has many bumps, rocks, and crevices.
If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, and want to experience a zen-like retreat, please stop reading and just book this property. The owners and management have done an incredible job of making this a completely unique oasis. I cannot wait to return!!
Nice location, easy drive to Palm Springs, and Joshua Tree.
The Laundry area could be a little cleaner.
Some sort of "critters" living in the attic, never saw them but could here them scratching around above the ceiling.
Overall good experience.
