Overall, we had a good stay at the hotel. However, there were a couple of issues. The shower gel and conditioner bottles were empty and since it was late at night, we had to go out and purchase our own. Additionally, the bed sheets and comforter did not seem freshly washed, as there was an unpleasant odor while sleeping. Apart from these concerns, everything else was satisfactory.

The room was nice, the bed was dreadful its hard to explain it was so soft it felt like you were sleeping in a ditch. The pub meals here were once great but this time the menu was limited at best and quality was not very good. Disappointing because I've stayed here plebty of time before and its always beer great.

Nightcap at Federal Hotel Mt Gambier seemed to be trying hard to be a reasonable accommodation option, but just missed the mark in a few areas. Unfortunately, many of Mt Gambier's hotels have a similar issue. Staff in the hotel are friendly and welcoming, and a positive effort has been made to upgrade the rooms. However, our room, while generally being pretty good for what it is, needed a little more effort from the cleaning staff to make sure all corners were cleaned and opened milk (UHT milk) was replaced. It was a shame that our bathroom developed a terrible aroma with a plumbing issue on Sat night when there weren't options to have it rectified. Would give this accommodation another go as good value for its price and a reasonable option for this price point in Mount Gambier.
