Kathy's Place ( see Lake Naivasha & Hills beyond)
The home overlooks the beautiful sunrise and sunset view on Lake Naivasha from the balconies. The hills beyond the lake give an amazing scenery for relaxation. We are in a quiet serene environment, about 1.5 Km away from Naivasha town, because of the twists and turns within the estate, it is a walking distance. The road from town is a little bumpy. The home has spacious rooms, lawns and flowers on the half acre piece of land. The rooms areas spacious. Very good lighting. Spacious compound for team bonding. Very good view of Lake Naivasha from the balcony area. Kenya hot tea served for free on arrival. There is a permanent manager to receive you and attend to your requests. All areas of the space are accessible.
We were a group of ten friends and the place suited us perfectly. From ample parking space for the cars to enough beds for our mixed group. We were there for a 4 days and 3 nights stay. The house is kept clean and we even paid a little extra for food to be cooked for us.
Vivian, the caretaker, was very efficient in the service. You could almost forget she was there, almost, that's how good she was.
The beds and beddings were very comfortable. Home away from home.
It is conveniently located to the town. The access to the place meanders but you get used to it.
Catherine the host was very helpful and informative before we got there. And was always very responsive to any communication during our stay.
We would definitely return!!!! Loved it!
My husband and I stayed at Kathyâs place for a total of 52 days. We had extensive conversations before our arrival with the owner, Catherine, and she was able to help us with any question we might have had. In fact, during the entire 52 days, I had more conversations with Catherine that I would have initially imagined. She is a fun, energetic, creative business woman who started her own NGO to assist the local women in her community. She assisted us in finding simple every day items which we needed and then was able to assist us further in touring around Kenya. Without her help and assistance, my husband and I would not have been able to explore the Naivasha area (Mt Kenya area, Ol-Pajeta, Nakuru, Crater Lake or the other places we visited). She was able to match us up with some wonderful knowledge people within the community who made our trip worthwhile. We learned a great deal about the Naivasha area and Kenya from her and the extended contacts we made through her. As for the house, it was a two story house, 5 bedrooms, 4 bath (2 en-suite) house, the master bedroom has a balcony overlooking the valley and Lake Naivasha. We watched beatiful sunsets on the balcony, fabulous sunrises, storm that rolled in, and exotic birds flying in the yard and through the area. Although the road to the home is rough and rocky (as all Kenyan rural roads seem to be), the location was perfect. Close enough to town that we could walk and enjoy the area, go to lunch, shop, etc, but just far enough that it had that wonderful country feel, quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. The house woman was fabulous, not only did she take care of everything we asked for, she her intuition was strong and things were done even before we asked. The house had a strong wifi and internet service, full kitchen complement of items needed, tv (should you watch it), and mosquito nets in each room.
We would absolutely recommend Kathyâs Place to anyone wishing to travel to Naivasha. Even as a weekend get-away from Nairobi, this is the place to be. Catherine was a super host. Thank you to her and her staff!
