Step back in time at this centuries-old Hungarian thatched cottage for 5. Built 250 years ago in a traditional style the property benefits from thick stone walls that keep it cool during summertime and warm in the winter.

Situated in one of Veszprém County’s most picturesque villages the property is nestled in a valley bordered by forests. Nemesvitai kilátó, a wooden viewing tower is a 5-minute walk from the accommodation and offers incredible views of the local area and a newly built children’s playground.

The property enjoys a small kitchen and dining area with terracotta tiled flooring and a wood-beamed ceiling. The kitchen is fully equipped with; a cooker hob, an oven, a microwave, a fridge and a small dining table.

Outside, guests can enjoy an alfresco meal in the private garden or simply relax in a deck chair and breathe in the tranquil surroundings

Location

The property is located in Nemesvita a charming village in the Veszprém county of Hungary near the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The area around Nemesvita is known for its vineyards. Visitors can visit local wineries to learn about the region\'s viniculture and enjoy local wine-tasting tours. One of the region\'s most famous wineries, Laposa Birtok, is a 20-minute drive away and in Szent György-hegy visitors will find 6 different wineries including Gilvesy Winery which focuses on organic farming.

Nearby Lake Balaton (the largest lake in Central Europe) also provides many opportunities for recreational activities including such as swimming, sunbathing boating and fishing. Szigliget and Midi Strand Beach are both approximately a 15-minute drive away. History lovers will enjoy visiting nearby castles including Szigliget (a 10-minute drive), Rezi and Sümeg castles (both a 20-minute drive).

Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the many opportunities for hiking and biking, including; Balaton Uplands National Park (a one-hour drive), Vadlánlik-cave (a 20-minute drive) and Csodabogyós cave in Balatongyörök (a 12-minute drive). There’s also a Thermal Spa in Heviz, approximately a 30-minute drive away. The closest restaurant is a 15-minute walk / 4-minute drive and there are four supermarkets within a 10-minute drive of the accommodation.
