Cozy chalet with water view, kayaks, and hot tub

Vasara Cottage is a spacious, one-level, chalet-style holiday house located along the shores of the Stanley River, minutes away from Stanley Bridge, New London, Kensington and Cavendish. Vasara, Latvian for “summer”, is so-named because it is the ideal summer holiday retreat.

Visitors enter into a spacious, high-ceilinged, multi-use, open-concept area housing a kitchen, living room and dining room. The kitchen is well-appointed, with a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and several small appliances. Down the hallway, six people may sleep in three bedrooms, each with a queen-sized bed. For extra visitors, there is a pull-out sofa with a queen-sized mattress in the living room There is a three-piece washroom with a washer and dryer. A wrap-around deck with pergola provides a lovely view of the Stanley River and space for relaxing and eating outdoor meals. A private outdoor, seven person hot- tub is lovely for relaxing after outings or a game of golf at one of the several nearby world-class golf courses.

Conveniently located in the geographical centre of the Island, Vasara Cottage is only a 20 minute drive from Summerside and 40 minutes to Charlottetown. Kensington is only 10 minutes away where a grocery store, liquor store and pharmacy can be found. A quick 15 minute drive gets you to Cavendish, where there are many family-friendly activities such as amusement parks, a water park, mini-putt courses, the National Park as well as several beaches, restaurants and shops.

If staying close to home is more your style, there is cable TV, wi-fi, an electric fireplace, outdoor hot-tub and a recreation shed on-site with many options for fun activities. There are bicycles for the family, two kayaks, a canoe and a stand-up paddleboard for a leisurely paddle down the Stanley River (children’s life jackets and cycling helmets are not included). There is also a play structure for the kids, with a slide and swings. Many outdoor games are also provided, including badminton, horseshoes and croquet. There is also a firepit on the property, with seating, for delicious evening bonfires and s’mores.

Vasara Cottage has an ‘out in the countryside’ feel, with pastoral views of rolling green hills beyond the Stanley River where great blue herons and bald eagles can be seen daily. Well-behaved pets are welcome at Vasara Cottage for a small additional charge.
