Getting Around:

Walking is the best way to get around in the downtown New Orleans area and when you get tired, rideshare (Uber/Lift/KrewCar) and taxis are generally readily available. Or hop on one of our famous streetcars to see two major routes throughout the city. The St. Charles Ave. streetcars are Green and head away from downtown on St. Charles Ave, into the Garden District, where you will see the beautifully maintained mansions, passing Loyola and Tulane Universities, Audubon Park, and the Audubon Zoo. Red Streetcars travel along Canal Blvd. from the Mississippi River out to City Park. The streetcars are cash only, unless you buy a pass.

The Hop on Hop off tour buses circulate around some of the more popular areas of downtown and offer pickup every 30 minutes.



The Algiers Ferry is a fun way to get across the river. It runs from Canal Street to Algiers throughout the day. Algiers is small and very walkable. Enjoy a quick bite to eat or just enjoy walking through the historic houses.



Bicycle rentals are also a great way to get around and can be rented from various locations throughout downtown. There are bike rental options like Blue Bike with multiple locations throughout the city and tour companies that have guided bike tours.

The host was great and very informative before we arrived. The condo was beautifully designed and very close to the French Quarter, so walking was easy. This is a great place for a stop in New Orleans! It’s in the perfect spot to be able to walk to just about most of the heart of NOLA! Super easy walks to bourbon and Frenchman! It’s a safe little condo with all the amenities you could possibly need! Highly reccomend for your trip to New Orleans!

The place was beautiful and had everything we needed for a great stay. We loved the provided water, coffee and creamers to get us through the first day or so. The building itself was easy to get in and out of and was in a phenomenal location to walk to all the great New Orleans attractions. Barbara, the property manager was beyond helpful in every way. Spotless and ritzy and great bang for the buck. Famous and not-so-famous but nonetheless excellent restaurants in every direction within a 10 or 15 minute walk. Property manager - Barbara is her name I believe - was delightful and rightfully proud of the building and the units she manages. As others have mentioned... some mornings... there is an ungodly racket that goes on for several minutes around 6AM. It probably will wake you up. I got up and investigated: there are small wheeled dumpsters in the narrow street (Picayune Place) behind the building. Guess it's too narrow to drive a garbage truck there - so the sanitation workers wheel them to the truck for pick up at the nearest corner. It's blissfully over after five or ten minutes. It is what it is. I suspect that similar street noises would be present just about anywhere this close to or within the French Quarter. Don't know if I'll be spending much time in New Orleans again any time soon but if so, I'll be checking out this unit's availability before worrying about staying any where else.

Great location

The spot was ideal. Close to French Quarter and all of our planned events. Clean, roomy, and comfy bed! Only downside was we could hear the trash trucks slamming the dumpsters over and over every morning before dawn.

Just as advertised

This was our first time to New Orleans and we wanted to get the feeling of the French Quarter and the local community. This place allowed us to do that perfectly! Just as advertised, the place was beautiful and clean, comfortable A/C to offset the 80’s temperature outside. Amenities made us feel at home.The noise of the garbage trucks at 5am daily was a little surprising, even though we were made aware in advance. This did NOT spoil our visit, since it was in the city. We went back to sleep peacefully.The condo was within walking distance to restaurants, the swamp tours pick up spot, the French Quarter, the Aquarium/Insectarium and the WWII museum, all of which we recommend. Also, we walked to the streetcar stops and visited the Garden District and Audubon Park by LSU. Definitely recommend this location and host.

Great Centerpoint place

This is a great spot for comfort but still walking distance to everything. Communication and info provided by Barbara really made our stay efficient and easy. (Thank you Barbara!) she informed us of parking, tips, warnings, and always answer the phone and messages promptly. No fault to the property- we were woken up every morning around 7 am due to excessive LOUD noise. It sounded like bulldozing the roads or even wind banging metal making it hard to sleep past that time. It could have been this specific weekend- but other than that it was a very quiet place during the night time itself.

One of the best I’ve ever stayed at

As someone that travels for work often, I’ve stayed at rentals and hotels often and this is easily one of the cleanest and most well kept rentals I’ve ever stayed at. The host was wonderful, check in easy and location was perfect. I highly recommend and will be staying here anytime I am in NOLA

The 10/10 rating is no joke!

This is a review of the host and of the stay including their preemptive movement of us to another unit (Comic themed property # 1176343) due to water damage from the snow before our arrival.Excellent facilities. The unit was very much as advertised. The Vacay Nola Team was responsive - I had trouble finding laundry soap (under the sink in the kitchen!), and they were so helpful. Would absolutely recommend for anyone going to NOLA! We were only there for two nights and would totally go back to these units for more nights. Great experience!

Great location and lovely apartment in NOLA!

We had a fantastic experience staying at the Picayune with VacayNOLA! The building felt safe and secure, and the apartment was lovely, spacious, and well appointed. All the amenities were modern and exactly as described in the listing. I appreciated the investigative-themed decor, especially the framed historical news articles. The bed was so comfortable and the apartment so quiet that I slept like a baby. Both of us were there for work and found the space great for both working during the day and resting after a night out. I attended a conference at a large hotel nearby, but was glad to stay in this apartment because it was less expensive, more comfortable, and roomier than a hotel room. This neighborhood is quieter than the French Quarter, but the French Quarter's attractions and nightlife are just a few blocks away. When a maintenance issue came up during our stay in the apartment, the staff at VacayNOLA was very responsive and helpful, and they resolved it right away. We go to NOLA a lot and are so pleased to have found this place -- will definitely stay there again!

Loved the location. Walking distance to everything but away enough to have some peace. Clean, pictures and description accurate. Comfortable bed- we would highly recommend and would stay here again.
