Room was not ready for hours after check in

The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. The staff are all very friendly and the property is extremely well maintained and clean. The only issue we encountered was the room was not ready at the check in time of 3pm. We checked in with the desk twice and were told both times we would get a call or a text when the room was ready. We decided to walk around the neighborhood and wait. Never received a call or text, went back about 6pm because we were tired and it was ready then but would have been nice to have that call or text so we were not just wandering around waiting.
