Small but perfectly formed

I had a nice small room in the hotel, lots of shops in Newbury and lots of places to eat and drink, and a nice stroll to the racecourse.

Location is convient for walking to many shops. The WFi sign in app is not user friendly. Hint, to specify the year of your birth you touch the present year (2025) and only then will other earlier years appear for selection.

Just stayed one night ideal for Newbury races 15 minute walk great bar area and outside drinking area is situated right in the town centre with free car parking

Not what I expected!

The place was okay, but not what I expected. We booked a deluxe double and it was hardly that! The decoration to the walls haven’t seen a lick of paint in many years and one of the walls had more cracks in it like a dried up reservoir! We booked a full English breakfast for our duration which was very nice. But I have never had to pay for my beverages as an extra as these wasn’t included in the price. Two hot drinks and two orange juice was £13.90 per day. This was more than the breakfast. To be honest this did but a dampener on our stay as I never saw it in the small print, that’s if it’s actually is. I would give the Elephant at the Market 3 out of 10 as the food was very good.

I’ve stayed before and it’s usually good. This time there were a couple of things wrong - a blind that was broken and the shower was tepid. I mentioned it to the manager who said she’d get it fixed and will offer me a discount on my next stay.

In general, ok, but the room is small and our window shade broke trying to close it and there was no one around to fix it, even at around 8:00pm. The location is very good.

Waited 40 minutes before being checked in. I was in troubadour room. The mirror was dumped on the floor not even on the wall, bathroom sink had hair in it. Not ideal when you want to bush your teeth. Was sat having a tea and notice mould and very old spilt liquid. Very uncomfortable bed, itchy and hard. Shame as was recommended to me but from the moment I walked it it was awful. Better off on the park bench

Comfortable and quiet, great food!

I'd booked in error date wise and despite having to change literally on the day i was supposed to be checking in, i still got a very nice room comfirmed very quickly, 2 nights of quiet comfort in the out building rooms.

Good location in Newbury.

In an excellent location on the Market Place in Newbury. Ideally placed for visiting the canal and the town centre. The room was in a converted block at the back of the hotel and was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was cooked to order and very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is secure parking at the back of the hotel.
