Pluses: Friendly owners, good breakfast, very clean, large common area. Nice homemade jellies.
Minuses: Temperature in common area too cold, and the heater says âdo not touch,â so guests can not set for comfortable temperatures. Shower also does not get warm enough. So you go from too cool room to not warm enough shower. When we mentioned shower temp, proprietor said it was impossible to heat because it was a well. He has a tankless âinstantâ water heater. All that would be needed is a small, inexpensive tank water heater plumbed in after the tankless, but he insisted it would be impossible to get sufficient heat.
Conclusion: If you are OK with not being warm enough this is a great place at a reasonable price. Would I stay there again? Probably not. As I get older things like temperature comfort have become much more important. When I was younger it probably would not have been a deal breaker. And to think that it is something which seems it would be so easy and inexpensive to fix.
Both Fred and his wife Terry are the best hosts you could ever hope for. They're very professional and exceptionally hospitable. Equally important is the place is spotless.
I would highly recommend these good folks to anyone looking for affordable, clean, and hospitable accomodations in and around the Ninilchik area. Thanks Fred and Terry for your kindness and some terric breakfasts!
Came down to Ninilchick to do surf fishing for halibut. A unique form that doesn't require getting seasick. Caught a nice halibut and Fred helped set up a cleaning station. Very accommodating to his fisherman.
Our stay could not have been more delightful. We had interesting and helpful conversations with the owner. Our room was spotless and comfortable. It is located within a good distance from Anchorage, and 30 minutes from Homer. Quiet and peaceful.
We stayed one night. There were 3 bedrooms. We stayed in the âbearâ room. We were the only guests, so we had the place to ourselves. Thereâs a TV downstairs and a large table. We grilled hot dogs outside and watched tv and played cards. There were many games to choose from and a kitchen well supplied with cookware, plates, cups, and silverware. There was coffee, tea and hot chocolate, too. In the morning, We had a delicious hot bacon and eggs and toast breakfast with a variety of home-made jellies and jams. We would love to stay there again.
I had a fantastic stay at Whispering Winds Bed & Breakfast. The room was just what I needed upon arriving in Alaska--clean, comfortable, spacious. The owners, Fred and Terri were great hosts. I experienced a great balance between privacy and opportunities to visit with other guests. The location is convenient for the fishing and other outdoor excursions I had booked.
This place was very nice, owners were very nice and accomaditing. The only thing i would have liked would have been a tv in the bear room for the evenings.
The owners, Fred & Terry were great! They took a lot of time to show us around the facility, and explain all amenities. The homemade breakfast was scrumptious - homemade blueberry pancakes, orange juice, toast, and bacon with homemade syrups and jellies. We spent quite a bit of time talking with them and felt at ease. We would certainly go back again, and recommend this B & B to others.

Cleanest place we ever stayed at. Excellent price point for being forty five minutes west of Homer. Wonderful breakfast included which was cooked by our hosts. Fred and Terri are the best.
Rustic, comfortable, out in the country (almost off the grid place) had a nice feeling of caring people loving the place they live, sharing their love with others offered theme rooms (I picked the Fish room), great pictures and history.
