The front desk staff was not the most professional. Customer service, let alone providing “good” customer service, was not an objective for them. They treated us as if we were an inconvenience. There were not enough towels upon our arrival. It was expressed that they come prepared for such instances and bring their own when they’re traveling. Considering the circumstances we were traveling under (bereavement) and the distance we’d driven (13hrs) there is NO excuse for not having towels available for a check in that identified 4 people would be in the room. Independent of the circumstances, as a PAYING guest, we should not have been denied the BASICS that come with renting a room. Not only did we have to find another means of bathing or wait until the following morning after a 13hour drive, they weren’t even apologetic and a concession wasn’t even a consideration. When we did receive towels, a few were stained and appeared unclean and when asked to swap them out, it was another expression of annoyance from the front desk staff. The cleanliness of the hotel was poor, at best. Curtains were terribly soiled and there was so much build up around the grout areas of the bathroom floor from a lack of proper cleaning I didn’t even feel comfortable removing my shoes. This was a very bad lodging experience and not what I would expect from a Wyndham property. I’m hoping to give them another chance at another location because I will NEVER return to the NORFOLK one!
