As expected for an overnight stay.
Paid Expedia rate for standard room so wasn’t expecting great, not was it. Very small dark room with small window overlooking back and extractor fans which were noisy. Bed - a double- not that comfy nor were pillows.
Breakfast was ok. Parking £8.
Hotel next to Spoons pub so a bit of late night noise.
Wouldn’t make me rush to return to ve fair but it was ok.
Efficient and friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, great breakfast! Situated near to the cathedral and a short walk to the marketplace the Maid's Head is perfect for a visit to beautiful Norwich.
The hotel was nice and the room was well decorated and fairly clean. The bed was not very comfortable and there was a disco going on and the sound of the bass from the music was so loud that we couldnt sleep.
The room had previous guest clothes left in the wardrobe, we got supplied 1 towel which was very old and worn , the room
Was dusty and very tired , the bedding had stains of coffee on and generally cleaning was poor , we did inform reception who said “ohhh we will get that sorted before next guest stay “ I was very disappointed
Harumph. It wasn’t exactly our first choice but circumstances led to us staying here and it lived down to expectations.
Proudly bills itself as the UK’s oldest hotel and that’s exactly the vibe you’ll get as you approach from the hideous 70s extension at the rear car park.
Bills itself as dog friendly and that’s just the vibe you’ll get as you’re cheerily told breakfast options are the street or your room.
Rooms are refurbished, which is good. The view straight out onto the drain pipe, wall and corridor from which other guests have a direct and unobstructed view straight into your room was less so (and that’s several categories up from the standard room too).
I wouldn’t again, no matter what the circumstances.
We have stayed in several hotels in Norwich over the last couple of years. For us the Maids Head Hotel was the best - comfortable bed, great shower and central location - we will be back!
I visit Norwich, my old college town, annually, and always stay at The Maid’s Head. Authentic, period building. Great location for cathedral and downtown. Fascinating layout and unique rooms. Convenient parking. Always love my stay there.

I loved the view of the cathedral from our room and the customer service of the staff on front desk reception and breakfast.
Great hotel, location and brilliant staff! Room upgraded on arrival which was great, plenty of parking behind the hotel. Room amenities very good including the iPad to send messages to reception/order food. Breakfast was one of the best.
