lovely spacious room, old world charm, excellent beds and shower which are a must for us. easy-going staff and very friendly. lovely meals and good service. very reasonably priced and we definitively will return next time in the area.

Stayed for one night on a business trip. The Nelson offered good overnight accommodation at a reasonable price. Clean room and comfortable bed. Staff were very welcoming. Good evening meal at a reasonable price, breakfast was good, too. Would I stay again?~ Yes

Overall a great place to stay - an old pub and hotel so ‘quirky’ and that suited us. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Didn’t eat in restaurant so no comment. Bed comfortable, but room lacked clothes storage for a long stay. Ended up with 3 rooms instead of the two booked (no extra cost) because of a broken lock, but that made our stay better. Staff were really helpful. No instructions in the room so couldn’t work the internet or the television but was only there for two nights and visiting family so didn’t spend much time there to worry - no doubt the staff could have explained. Some issues with maintenance, but again all part of staying in a reasonable, well priced, and old pub/hotel. Travel and access easy and plenty of parking. Main comment - we enjoyed our stay, it was ideal for our needs and will use the again.

Weekend stay

Friendly staff. Easy to check in. Bedroom was spacious. 2 single comfy beds. Bathroom ok but could have had a spruce up as the decor was a bit tired. As we had to check out before breakfast we were each given a packed lunch which was really appreciated. Nice bar and outside seating area. Would consider booking here again should I be in the area.

On arrival we were dealt with promptly but rushed. Room was tired and some bits of the decor needed attention. However it was clean and functional. Filling the kettle was awkward as it wouldn’t fit under the tap. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly.

Really nice friendly pub. We’ve had a drink here before but this was our first time staying. Nice spacious room, friendly staff and a delicious cooked breakfast.
