This 3-unit apartment building is a time capsule of the early 1900s and mixes in all the modern conveniences you need for a comfortable stay. This is a 2nd story unit with a full size kitchen and separate dining room for the whole crew! There are also 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
The house is pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends along with you on your vacation. There is also on-street and off-street parking available, so you don't have to worry about finding a place to park your car.
In addition to its convenient location, the house also has a number of other features that make it a great place to stay. There is fast WiFi throughout the house, so you can stay connected with work or friends. There are also multiple Roku TVs, so you can watch your favorite shows and movies.
The apartment has 4 bedrooms three of them with queen beds, a twin and single futon in the large bedroom, and one mini room with a twin bed perfect for a couple kiddos or that one single friend third wheeling along the trip. As stated before, this building was built in the early 1900s so you will be able to enjoy the historic charm of decorative wood trim and crown molding but still have the modern amenities of fast wifi and TVs.
There are 3 AC units in the apartment to keep you cool if it gets too hot and a big living room with plenty of seating for everyone to relax after a long day in the surf and sand.
There is a shared porch that the upstairs unit and downstairs unit can share that's right off the road where you can walk down directly to the beach. You may inquire about renting both units at a discounted rent if you would like to have more rooms and more guests.
There is also a common space you may enter which is the 1st door on the right off central street which has laundry machines that you are free to use. Keep in mind this is common shared space between three apartments so there may be others using the laundry machine or walking through.
Property was nice but did not know it was a second story unit & being in our 70âs the stairs were a challenge for us. Should be more clear on the booking site. Property mgr did not respond to me when asked if we could get refund for the 2nd & 3rd nights.
In all, price was right for a group of friends to do a weekend of activities, nothing fancy, but provided a space to go back to in the evening. Ample street parking also makes this an easier place to stay for groups at OOB.
As it was a little hard to to tell from pictures, I want to confirm the house is as described a 4ish+ Bedroom Upstairs Apartment. It has two private Queen beds, a 3rd queen that also shares its room with a full + single bunk bed, a futon in the living room and a room at the front of the house that is best described scale wise as a walk in closet that has a daybed in it that is good for a child or an adult who would enjoy being in a nook like space (this is not a knock, we had a friend who liked this feature).
There is a single bathroom which can be an issue if you don't communicate / plan with everyone else staying with you, but for us it was all adults so workable.
The bedroom that has the bunkbed + queen has AC, as well as the living room, the private queen rooms have windows with OK airflow, but no AC at all in one, and the other has an AC that appears to be no longer operable. We had no issues with this, but figured it would be good information to plan out who stays where if you have anyone who sleeps particularly hot.
In all, would stay again if I ever need to visit OOB with a group of friends
When our original Old Orchard Beach reservation got cancelled, it was great that we could still find something like this for our large-ish group during a holiday with only about a month to go. Check in and check out were especially easy. The owner is incredibly responsive and our one concern was addressed within an hour.
Our biggest caveat for others was that we didn't notice anywhere in the listing: THIS IS A SECOND FLOOR UNIT. If you're in a group with a crawling baby or someone who has trouble with stairs, keep that in mind.
The neighborhood was also rather loud (admittedly, we were there for Independence Day). The kids managed to sleep through it, but some of the adults needed ear plugs to muffle the modified exhausts that drove by (speed limit is only 20-25 there) through most of the night, even with the windows closed and the A/C units running.
It was nice having a straight shot down the hill to the beach, the 7 minutes that was described was pretty accurate. The beach got cozy during the day on the 4th, but not unusably so. Other days it was quite open. We also had no trouble finding a spot to watch the fireworks.
The photos show there's a front patio on the building, but the people in another unit while we were there seemed to think it was theirs exclusively. We weren't staying long enough to raise this with the owner.
There probably was enough bedding to sleep 10 as advertised, but you'll be constantly tripping over each other if you bring that many.
