Evi the school bus at Oromahoe Downs Farm

Enjoy the sounds of nature when you stay in this unique place. Evi started her days as a school bus in 1963 but now she is a one bedroom house bus on a lovely lifestyle block in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Be in the heart of the countryside with 25 acres to roam, sheep, pigs, and ducks to watch, lots of birdlife, and a river to enjoy and take a dip. Then drive just 10 mins to Kerikeri or 14 mins to Paihia to explore the sights, shops, cafes and restaurants.

insolite et bien aménagé

Nous avons passé un bon séjour dans ce lieu insolite. Le seul problÚme est la régulation de la température ( chaud la journée et frais la nuit). L'agencement est bien fait et l'équipement adéquat pour cuisiner et se laver dans de bonnes conditions

Down on the farm

What a gorgeous spot. We loved the location and spent days exploring kerikeri, paihia, kororareka and surrounds. The highlight was the farm though. The sheep, ducks and cattle are the first thing you see in the morning and Bruno the dog is a delight. We loved meeting Andrea and John. They've built a little slice of paradise. We were warm comfortable and had everything we needed.

I had a wonderful stay at the farm. The bus had all the comfort you need. The area was so peaceful and idyllic. Perfect location if you arrive at kerikeri airport. The host was super friendly. Highly recommend!

Beautiful bed and linen cosy bedroom. Love the colours of the bedding and cushions. Great shower instant hot water great shower head. Everything i needed they had in the bus. Spotlessly clean the whole bus. Quiet and peaceful just what i wanted and needed. Lovely being able to have my dog with me. Bruno popped in every morning. Great friendly hosts. Thanku.

Lovely stay with lovely hosts

Andrea and John were wonderful hosts, friendly, and kind. We felt very welcome in their corner of Paradise. Evi had both comfort and character, and the setting was beautiful, quiet and private, while being close to all the Bay of Islands has to offer. The kids loved the river and Bruno the friendly sheep dog.Thanks so much!

Amazing location

The farm is awesome, our 8 year old granddaughter Isla became the “ farm girl” for the week and helping Andrea and John feed the pigs, sheep and ducks was the absolute highlight for her. Andrea and John were so patient with her. The environment is so quiet and the bus is centrally located to Paihia and Kerikeri

An old school bus in a paddock.

We arrived late due to airline delays. The host greeted us on arrival. It was bitterly cold and we were looking forward to a hot shower to warm us up, bbut the shower kept going from too hot to too cold. It was not nice at all We got into bed but still shivered all night. In the morning I informed the host that we couldn't do that any mo,as we are both in our 70s. We were told that we could have asked for a heater to be brought in, but it was already after 10PM when we got into bed. We w

A perfect getaway

We loved everything about our stay in Evi. It was so quaint and yet fully functional and totally comfortable. It was very convenient to Paihia, Waitangi and Kerikeri, so was an excellent base to do all we wanted and yet felt separate and peaceful away from the busy centres. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Evi. Lovely location and friendly hosts who went out of their way to make sure our stay was a great experience. The wee Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch as was the chocolates left for us on arrival.
