We had a wonderful stay. It was everything they said it was. We were looking for a secluded place to stay and it was indeed secluded. Beautiful, picturesque, quiet. The dogs loved being able to roam the property and use the creek to cool down.
The cabin in Spencer was a perfect place to get away for a peaceful retreat! If youâre looking for some unwinding, babbling brook kind and morning bird chirping kind of get away- this is it. Itâs simple, easy, no fuss, beautiful. I was looking for somewhere close to do some geode exploring, and I found that too. And that⊠youâll have to find on your own ;) enjoy!!! (The MOST gracious hosts⊠who let me back in the house after I had a breakdown with my rental car, missed my flight, and needed a place to stay the night.)
This property did not disappoint. We were only there for a couple of days and wish we had booked for much longer. The cabin provided everything we needed and more, even down to the dog bowls. The woods surrounding the clearing provided ample opportunity for bird watching or just listening to the lovely stream along the property. 15 minute drive to McCormick State Park which still has some closed trails due to the 2023 tornado but we enjoyed our little hike there. The roomy cabin was clean, clean, clean and comfortabe as could be. We hope to stay again!
What a great spacious cabin to stay in as a couple with or without pets. Itâs close to the parks and Bloomington. It was listed with 0 bathrooms but had to dig a little to find it actually had a half and a 3/4 bath. Pictures of those would have eased our fears but otherwise a great place to stay.
My wife and I and our 2 dogs love it here!! Stayed again for 14 days. The time went so fast we requested to stay a 15th day, which we did. Geraldine and David make you feel like family. Already booked for next year!!
The property was amazing, last house at the end of the road surrounded by a wandering creek and cows! The cabin was just as described and perfect fro our needs! We were close to state parks, which is what we wanted. We will be back to enjoy this very special place!
Beautiful home, beautiful woods and lush green meadows surrounding. The property manager was great! If you get a chance, stop by the adjacent field and say " howdy" to some friendly Owen County cows.
The grounds were lovely and we spent a lot of time exploring. Our dog had a great time, so did we- beautiful hiking nearby and we loved Owen Valley Winery, also very close.
The cabin is great, we really didn't need to leave much! Fabulous location for the 2024 Eclipse.
It was far more than we even anticipated - we expected cleanliness but we couldnât even IMAGINE the beauty and privacy of this cabin in the woods!!!!! We plan to go back for sure!
It has beautiful surroundings and is one of the most peaceful places I've ever seen. Gerry, is one of the best people you'll ever meet. I've been there several times and am looking forward to going again soon.
This cabin and property were even more beautiful than the pictures show! Inside was clean, spacious, and beautiful. It had everything we could possibly need with plenty of living space for two adults and two dogs. Bathrooms were pristine, kitchen lacked nothing, and bed was very comfy. The cabin sits up on a rise in the center of the property with gorgeous views all around of the fields, woods and branches of the creek. We sat for hours in the sunshine on the deck playing cards, reading, and listening to the birds while our dogs explored safely all around. It was heaven! Communication with the host was easy and very pleasant and we will definitely return!
McCormick State Park was within 15 minutes with well-tended trails and beautiful scenery. Greenâs Bluff Trail was stunning and definitely worth hiking ( 5 min away.) Owen Valley Winery is adorable, as is the town of Spencer. Bloomington was a reasonable drive for a walk through campus and a tour of town. Plenty to do in this area, and a fantastic place to stay, especially with dogs! Thank you Gerry for being such a sweet host!
Everything we were looking for and more!! Total seclusion in the woods but 20 min. to 24 hr. Store.
Didn't want to leave. Our dog has never been on a vacation. with us before. He loved as much as we did. Every single person we talked to was so nice. Hoosier hospitality at its finest.
Beautifully secluded property. Amazing views. Everything you need to prepare and serve meals. Comfy bed. Large open rooms. Close to state park and other hiking in area. We loved being able to bring our dog, and he loved the property and the wrap around deck giving him looks all around. We would like to experience a different season next time. Fall was amazing and Iâm guessing Spring and Summer would be too!
Our stay in Gerry's little slice of heaven was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. VERY quiet. Bed was comfortable as were the pillows. We needed to turn on the heat because the temperature dropped by night fall. We were quite comfortable. The cabin has beautiful views from every window.
It was a pretty, rural drive to McCormick Creek State Park. Trail #7 was our favorite. Green Bluff Nature Preserve was directly behind the cabin and was a petty walk as well. We would stay again.
My husband and I and our 2 dogs had a lovely time here. The dogs could run free and enjoy a large place to roam, including a beautiful creek, wooded area, and fields. It might be out-of-the-way, but if that's what you're looking for, this is it. A winery and brewery are nearby, as well as several places to hike and some inexpensive restaurants.
