For the duration and price I paid, the return on my investment was poor.
I rented beach houses in Kawanda for 15 years, but unfortunately, this was the worst experience ever. The property was neglected for 20 years and it showed on every corner. The carpet and floors were dirty, the doors were squeaking from rusted hinges, and the towels were way past their prime. For the duration and price I paid, the return on my investment was poor.
What suppose to be a fun and relax vacation with my sisters turn to be a nightmare. Someone try to break into our home while we were relaxing in the living room, we had the lights and music on. Whoever was trying to break in was shaking the door knob and trying to push the door open. We waited before we open the door and there was no one there. Later same night the electricity power went off. I call the office and left a voice msg and it instruct me to call another number which I did. A man answered and he told me that it was him, that he was pounding in the garage door that he wanted to make sure we had arrived. I told him that he did not nock at the front door that he was trying to get in. I also told him about the power being off for a few minutes and that we got more scare. The way he talk was like he was dismissing what I was saying, like he did not take it seriously.
We loved being able to walk over the sand dunes to the beach. We also brought bikes and enjoyed the bike paths hidden throughout Pacific City. This unit is smaller, but worked great for our family of 5.
We had a great time and the property was fantastic! Thereâs a full kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, and 3 bedrooms. Although it was half of a duplex, it was really spacious and comfortable.
First, the negatives (because thats really what youâre looking for):
>the shower heads are small and low flow, the shower in the back bedroom also suffers from poor water pressure.
>the couches in the living room are definitely something I would put in a vacation home (if I were renting it out); theyâre high wear and firm which for me made them uncomfortable. BUT we were there for a holiday, not to sit around a bunch, so that can be forgiven.
>the Wi-Fi is slow in the upstairs front half of the house. It would benefit from an extender.
>the check-in process would be improved if they put a keypad lock on the front door rather than using keys. Otherwise, since they use physical keys, you have to stop in at the office for them and return them when you leave. So it just extends the process.
Honestly, my negatives are really small and nitpicky except the showers - thatâs just egregious. đ
The positives:
>the house is really clean and well appointed. Frankly, the pictures donât do it justice.
>the house is quite close to the beach. Itâs located in a community of other vacation townhouses, and there is a pathway that leads you to it.
>the neighborhood is quiet - indeed, it is an association and itâs one of the requirements.
>the management was extremely responsive to questions and concerns
>Pacific City is small, but they have a Pelican pub, so thatâs awesome!
The check in process was okay. They charge a 3% service fee for any credit card use so I recommend to being cash for the remainder of your payment. The 3% charge is listed in the email they send you so Iâm glad the lady who checked us in informed me.
The carpets upstairs are in desperate needing of cleaning. The house was decent.
Wonderful open layout, light and bright with lots of windows yet very private feeling. An 8 minute walk to the beach and lots of great places to grab takeout just a few minutes drive away!
We loved Shorepine Village and the easy beach access - it was awesome to be able to walk two minutes to a gorgeous beach. The house itself was adequate and comfortable, but I think it could use a deep clean - especially the carpet - and some refreshed furniture and towels. On the plus side, it has great natural light, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had what we needed to cook meals at home. FYI, the yard backs to a main road and there is road noise.
There are some lovely hikes nearby and we enjoyed hiking in the morning and playing at the beach in the afternoon.
We had a great stay in Pacific City. The house was clean, comfortable and stocked with a few basics that helped (no need to buy toilet paper or a bag of sugar for 1 tsp in my coffee). It was easy walking distance to the beach over a big dune and we also walked to several restaurants and a couple stores easily by beach or road. The beach in front of the community was away from the busiest part where the dorys launch, but close enough we could walk over to see the action. It was worth getting up early to check out the tidal pools at low tide at the point. We weren't totally prepared for the cool weather so I would recommend windbreakers and warm gear, even in the summer. Although with the sun out in the afternoons it was comfortable. The community is well maintained and the rental company was easy to work with before and during the trip.
