A lovely stay
My daughter and I really enjoyed our time at Central Hotel right in the middle of everything in Casco Viejo. Our waiter at the Bistro was excellent describing each of the Panamanian dishes on the menu and the local beers which was great because this was our first meal in the country. The front desk staff was always friendly and attentive but very poorly equipped to act on anything from that location. The answer was invariably to find the mythical gift shop elsewhere in the hotel. They did lend us a staff member's personal umbrella one evening though which was very nice. The beds were not to a high standard of comfort, but the rooms themselves were large and well-equipped and our room had a nice view out to the square. You can't opt in to breakfast at the hotel if you don't specify it at time of booking, but this was a blessing as there were amazing breakfast places in the neighborhood. Our room rate included a promotion of a free bottle of sparkling wine, but when we asked at the front desk about it, we were told we had to have it at the Bistro and then somehow get it taking off our bill. We gave that a miss. This is a very beautiful hotel in an amazing location with a lively bar area with music. The staff is always smiling and amazing. The only thing holding this property back is details.
