Fantastic location, convenient base for short Ullswater stay. Staff mostly great and welcoming, rooms very clean, corridors and paintwork showing wear and many scuffs.
Room tea coffee facilities excellent, evening meal was very average and probably over priced. Breakfast, service and overall environment lovely and excellent service. Set us up well for the day and one of the nicest breakfasts I've had. Would definitely consider a return stay when in Ullswater.
The hotel is lovely and the rooms are well appointed and beautifully clean. The tea tray was excellent. Food in the restaurant is amazing.
The two reasons that it wasn't 5* is because the bathroom blind was missing and there was no cover in the bathroom. My teenage daughters found this uncomfortable.
In the restaurant the gentleman who greeted us was rather intense. He was clinical in his approach. It felt uncomfortable.
I will undoubtedly return.
Wonderful stay. We booked it to break up a trip back home from the Highlands in Scotland.
We were welcomed on arrival with a quick check in and then we had a lovely walk round the lake. The food was lovely and the drinks well priced. Wednesday night was quiz night which we really enjoyed.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely. We will definitely stay again.
Helen made us feel very welcome. Lovely room which had a bath !
Good choice of food on the menu and two open fires to get cosy around.
Very nice breakfast to set us up for the day, we would definitely stay here again.
Stayed for two nights DDB all the staff were friendly and helpful. The Room was clean and comfortable. Nice size shower, could have done with a shower mat in the shower. The room was a nice size and was neve cold always a nice temperature. Nice touch with the fresh milk kept in a little fridge on the landing for your teas and coffee. Will definitely stay again
Good service from staff, lovely pub, cute and cosy room. Could do with a small shower screen on bath so shower can be used more effectively and somewhere in bathroom to put toiletries - otherwise great, good cooked breakfast
Room was small but lovely and clean. The bed was comfy but the room was way too warm, you can’t control the thermostat. The en-suite was nice but only had a bath and was not made aware of this. The breakfast was so so, poached eggs were good apart from the bread was not toasted at all. The service was very quick and the staff weren’t very enthusiastic and didn’t really know the etiquette of whether you’d finished or not. Great drink selection, and the food on the evening was just about okay. Not a great amount to do in Pooley Bridge
Pooley Bridge is one of my favourite places on earth. I've been going since 1982 and on that occassion I had a pint or two in the Pooley Bridge Inn. I've stayed before here and it's great to know that it's still as fabulous as it's alwasy been. Room was beautiful, balcony was lovely to have. Food is outstanding, the staff are all so helpful and full of joy. It has such a positive vibe, fills you with energy and also relaxes too. 10 out of 10
Lovely stay. Was so cosy sitting by the fire in the restaurant and bar. Service from friendly, helpful staff. The room was very comfortable with a lovely modern bathroom. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.
The accommodation an breakfast facilities were excellent, no facility to have a drink at the bar, no chairs, in fact manager discouraged anyone just having a drink, bar is geared up for supplying food for diners only, I sat at an empty table near the rear back door and was moved on by the manager. Location of the Inn was excellent. We ate and drank at the venue opposite which was more welcoming.
Room was nice but small . Breakfast staff friendly. Considering it was double would.not expect bathroom to.have a small.cloakroom size sink with no where to put anything and shower cubicle not spacious . Bed comfy. Felt we got short straw on room .
Bar feels odd having to register for a table to sit inside and felt conducive to a warm welcome. Chose not to eat in pub
