When I first walked into the room, it reeked of cigarette smoke. It was obvious a spray had been used to try to cover the smell, but that only made it worse, leaving a strong mix of smoke and heavy perfume. The window was open, presumably to air out the smell, and it had just finished raining. The odor was especially strong in the bathroom. The bathroom exhaust fan did not work, the shower curtain rod was barely attached to the wall and sagged, causing the curtain not to stay closed, and the bathroom floor felt tacky. Overall, the room did not feel clean or properly maintained.

My family and I were considering a few houses in the area and didn’t want to drive back home for 4.5 hours. So, we decided to stay at this hotel for the night. That was our first mistake. As soon as we arrived, there was no one at the front desk. I had to call them, and the front desk worker was rude. I asked if I could check in, and she acted like I was asking for a favor. She said there were no rooms available, which I highly doubted. There were no cars in the parking lot when we arrived. Despite my doubts, she continued to be rude and insisted that check-in was at 3 p.m. which was true, but I know some places, you can check in earlier if there are rooms available. I came back after 3 p.m., and she gave me another attitude. I don’t know what I was doing, but I think I was just checking into my room that I had paid for. In the end, I had to leave because of the rude staff. I will never stay here again or recommend this place. It’s called Spark, but there was no Spark. That’s why it got a 1-star rating.

The front desk staff was not friendly at all and acted like it was a huge burden on him to check us in to our room. The ad for the hotel stated there was a pool and when we got there we were told there wasn’t one. Our room was extremely warm and we were unable to turn down the heat.
