Free breakfast is available daily. WiFi is free in public spaces. Traveler's Rest Hotel also features gift shops/newsstands, coffee/tea in a common area, and laundry facilities.
This might be the coolest place I have ever stayed. Rooms are small (used to be a hostel) but spotless as is the rest of the hotel. Great history behind this building. Very comfortable sitting in the great room conversing with others. The peacefulness was in large part due to this being a TV free hotel.
The owners and their dog are fantastic. Helpful to know that bathroom is outside of the room accessed by code pad. Each room has its own bathroom not shared with other rooms but it is outside the room. We rolled with that and glad to have stayed there.
We had an excellent time at the travelers rest! Check in and check out were super simple. The building had such old world charm it was definitely unique. While the location was out of the hustle and bustle of the city, it was within an hour walk of PPG and the ferry. 10/10 would recommend and stay again! The hosts were amicable!
The place was great, the service was great too but needs a little improvement. The bathroom was not in the room, so was not comfortable for a family of four to have to use the code all the time. The air did not work .
Very good hostel-like hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms and amenities are nice, bathrooms are individual but across the hallway. Noise travels very easily between rooms. Simple breakfast with self-made options available.
I liked that it was different from the usual hotel chains. The unique historical architecture was interesting, but the hotel was updated and had all the amenities that met our needs, including our private bath that was down the hall. The free street parking was a plus! The location was great, short distances to sites of interest near downtown. Good restaurants within walking distance. Beds were comfortable. There was plenty of variety and healthy choices for our self service breakfasts. You can hear people walk and talk in the hallway at night, but it didn't disturb my sleep. I would definitely stay here again.
This is a hostel, not a hotel. Bathroom, although solely ours, was down the hall. Room was very sparse, no thermostat, mirror, tv or, as stated, bathroom. Bath was clean, but soap and shampoo was provided in a common area via little self service cups. Area totally industrial, half mile from edge of South Side strip.
Stayed here when in the city for a concert. It was a quick uber ride to PPG Paint Arena.
This place is absolutely adorable! So much better than a stay in a chain spot. The owners were very friendly and eager to chat with their guests. The building is very cool and has a great vibe. I would definitely stay here again!
Our stay at Travelerâs Rest was exceptional. The hotel boasts a distinctive charm, offering a unique and memorable experience. A complimentary breakfast was provided each morning in the common area, adding to the convenience of our stay. Its prime location allowed for easy access to numerous restaurants and bars within walking distance, while most major attractions were just a 10- to 15-minute drive away. I would stay here again in the future.
Beautiful âboutiqueâ hotel, in a wonderfully reconditioned 1800âs building. Exceptionally friendly and helpful service, and a location that puts you a quick drive (or hearty walk) away from Pittsburghâs downtown entertainment district. Highly recommended!
The self check-in was very well organized and convenient. The breakfast in the common space was excellent. Beds were comfortable and spaces were clean. We really enjoyed the unique aesthetic of the building and rooms! We walked back from downtown area at night and would just caution to use the 10th bridge at night because the surrounding area is not very populated.
