Pizzo Calabro: A character home with an unforgettable view
- fully renovated and refurbished in June 2013 - modern appliances meeting international requirements - character features and surroundings - flooded with light and featuring stunning sea views from all windows. - small terrace and winter terrace overlooking the village roofs and the whole gulf - 2min walk from the village square and castle, and all services and amenities - 10-15 min walk from the closest sandy beach (also ideal for children) and village Marina
The apartment was exactly as shown on the website. It was clean, neat and it had a wonderful view of the town and ocean. We had some great sunsets from the second floor balcony. It was a little difficult to find and we had to wait for someone to come get us. All i all it was a great stay. The town of Pizzo is beautiful and quaint.
Excellent location in the centro storico close to all amenities. Sr Conidi, who managed the property was very helpful. The views from every window are wonderful. The apartment was renovated around 10 years ago and some things are a little tired.
This is a lovely house and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Air conditioning in the bedrooms would be beneficial or a fan in each bedroom. The town is also very nice as were the easily accessible beaches, though be aware there are a lot of hills to climb. We would definitely go back to this part of Italy and explore further.

Absolut ruhige Lage.
excellent apartment very convenient i picturesque southern Italian beach village
Pizzo is an unknown gem, as is most of Calabria. The town is big enough to have abundant choices to eat but small enough that it is still a village. The town is obviously old and full of character. The beaches are beautiful, but small. A more famous and larger beach, Tropeo, is a short drive away. Our favorite, a few km's closer than Tropeo, was Parghelia. Pizzo is also close enough to Sicily for a daytrip. The apartment itself is beautiful and in excellent shape. It is located off an alleyway a short distance from a parking lot, and a short distance to the main plaza. In August Pizzo can be loud at night, an the apartment is close enough that if you are trying to sleep it would be annoying. So just stay up late and sleep on the beach during the day. And don't forget to try the 'Nduja, a local pepper spread that goes well on everything.

Living the life in Italy
We arrived in Pizzo and were greeted by Mr. Galeano who showed us to our lovely apartment in the heart of the historic city center. Casa Beatrice is lovely. It has everything you need to live comfortably. The views are magnificent. We ate lunch on our terrace often. We had to pinch ourselves every morning when we looked out our bedroom window and saw the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and the incredibly blue sky. Walking to the Piazza, which was two minutes away, was one of the highlight of our day. Restaurants and shops were right there and our daughter enjoyed sitting at the outdoor cafe, eating her tartufo, watching the world go by in Pizzo. We look forward to our next visit!
My husband and I lived at Casa Beatrice for 3 months this winter (November, December and January) and absolutely loved it. The house was exactly as pictured: bright, cheerful and just the right size for the 2 of us. The living room and bedroom had great views of the sea and old town Pizzo, and the entire view from the roof terrace was exceptional. The house is comfortably furnished with plenty of blankets and a well stocked kitchen --really just about everything one would need if you like to cook, which I do. We were especially grateful for the king size bed! The few extra items we asked for (a table lamp for the living room, a small sauce pan and a few space heaters to supplement the central heating on the coldest days) were delivered either the same day by Santino, the caretaker, or arrived via Amazon a day or two later. We discovered through Santino, that we were the first couple to ever live in the house over the winter! While no long-term rental is ever problem free, the few issues we experienced were minor and were addressed immediately by the owner, Elisabetta. She and Santino were incredibly responsive and always made us feel well cared for. Communicating with both was easily accomplished thru WhatsApp. The location of the house was perfect; a 2 minute walk to the Piazza and Ercole (the best place for Tartufo!), a 6 minute walk to the beach area and a 10-15 minute walk to the newer part of town to buy groceries. We preferred to walk every where and never needed a car. There were so many wonderful things about our stay at Casa Beatrice and living in Pizzo that I could go on and on, but instead I'll just say that we will definitely be back!
