Shearwater Penthouse is the well-equipped upstairs apartment of Shearwater House. Boasting 3 spacious bedrooms all equipped with a King Bed in each or with the option to have 2 Single Beds, adapting to the versatility and configuration of your group or family. Other features include laundering facilities, ensuite bathrooms to each bedroom and gas log fire in lounge.
A well-located property, with delightful views. The accommodation was spacious and the high ceilings added to the airy atmosphere. Bedding was good. However, for the price charged, there were a number of weaknesses: external walls were in need of revamp; main aircon unit was ineffective; internal walls and cabinetry were generally dated or in need of love; tap mixer in one room leaked and dripped. Another bathroom had loose fittings. And, given it was advertised as "bed and breakfast", the breakfast part consisted of tea, coffee, sugar and salt. I wish we had seen the reviews from some of the previous stays before we booked (our bad)! This was our 4th stay in Port Fairy in the past few years, and was also the least satisfying from a quality perspective.
Booked this property for itâs river views which were lovely but sorely let down but the state of the property. Although basics like the kitchen and bathrooms were clean, the property is in great need of a really good spring clean. The carpets are stained and dirty. The window flyscreens are caked in dirty dust and there marks on the walls and dust on blinds, bookshelves and the sofa at the top of the stairs. The tap water is undrinkable and although there was a separate tap at the sink, it didnât work which meant we had to buy our water . On the first night the entry key pad malfunctioned and beeped randomly until replaced which was handled quickly and efficiently by the property manager. However, the attempt by the window cleaner (who had no idea we were there) to get it and then a faulty (again beeping) fire alarm in a bedroom was the dealbreaker and we left a day early. Very expensive at $1700 odd for 4 nights..I wouldnât stay here again and canât recommend it.

Amazing house.
Loved our stay in the penthouse. Perfect for friends travelling together. Like having your own apartments within one big house. The location and the view were amazing. Beds were comfy & to each have our own bathroom was ideal. Could have sat on the couch staring out the picture window all day if there wasn't so much to do in Port Fairy. We'll be back.
