We enjoyed our stay. It's a cool building, we loved the decor. The bar/restaurant was cool but very crowded on the weekend, which is pretty standard for the area. The room was very cozy but worked for two people just crashing for the night. Our only complaint-we wished there was a fan in the bathroom for multiple reasons. We get that it's an old building but be warned there is very little privacy or fan in the bathroom...

I really enjoyed my stay in KEX, primarily because of the staff. They were so warm and welcoming and genuinely helpful. Special call outs to Willow and Sofia, who took special time to help me get what I needed, and graciously managed the potential of my being stranded during post airline fiascos on a budget. Love the hotel's design. Great details. Bed was super comfy, lots of storage, appreciated the chargers and instant hot shower. Nice, private sauna set up in the basement. Room stayed pretty cold despite a giant heater so stayed in my sweater and glad I brought slippers. Could have used some rugs in the bathroom, and face tissues. Tp was the rough stuff so prepare your butt or nose. Street noise was noticeable, as per city-style, but earplugs cut it out at night. Parking on the street or street lots was a pain in the ass, raised the price of my stay and impacted my time there a lot. I didn't read the fine print well enough to realize most of the rooms are literally only a bed, and a dorm style bathroom down the hall, but was lucky enough to get an upgrade to have my own loo and a desk. Overall a super cute hotel, fantastic staff, but read the fine print, and be prepared both less and more than your average hotel, and for significant car hassles should you bring one.

Loved our stay here! The bed was so comfy. Lobby/dining area/bar was amazing! Sauna was a delight. The sauna was a little messy, but that was the only con of our stay here. Loved the location. Had no problem walking everywhere.

What a great discovery for me! I booked a stay in the bunk room on an overnight trip to Portland and was very impressed with the hotel. The restaurant in the lobby was great too. Staff was great. I’m coming back during nice weather to experience the rooftop long/bar.

Outstanding
This place is amazing. Everything was new, super clean, and very stylish and cozy. The amenities for this price were out of this world (free coffee with oat milk! Free reservable sauna, discounts on a yoga studio and spa nearby). The restaurant/bar on the ground floor was so sexy, the menu looked great and they had nice low and 0 ABV options. I can’t talk highly enough of this spot and am telling everybody i know.

We liked the retro style and also the excellent bar. Comfy bed, good bathroom. Parking was challenging. Lots of homeless people in the streets of this part of Portland but they seem harmless.

Loved the stay; we booked a family room. It was great to have bunks for our kids in room, instead of having to purchase multiple rooms. The atmosphere in the hotel had such a fun vibe and was a comfortable space. We weren't huge fans that the only parking garage was a 15 min walk from the hotel, across the bridge, and street parking was not easy to find. Other than the parking and the slightly gross side streets (with lots of homeless or way to high individuals) we loved our stay.
