My wife and I just recently stayed there while touring around Portugal for two weeks. We spent two nights at this hotel. Our reservation was for a Room with a Queen bed. The room was clean and modern but was on the small side. It was difficult to open the two suitcases and have room to move around. Not a big deal for us as we were out the majority of the time. The lobby was beautiful and the staff helpful. Parking: For those driving, they do have parking available at an underground lot nearby, about a 7 minute walk away. The vehicle was safe and they provide a discount to those staying. Be sure to drop your bags off to check in before parking as the lot is downhill and you do not want to push the bags uphill. Prior to arriving I emailed the hotel for recommendations and they were very helpful. Both restaurants they recommended were fantastic! Location you are 10-15 minutes from everything by foot. The walk to the train station is 3-4 minutes. It's about 10 minutes down to the water and only 3-4 minutes to the bridge with a spectacular view of the waterfront below. Overall we had a great stay here.

The room was comfortable and the breakfasts were good. But they try to hard to be hip. The lobby and hallways look and sound like the corporate version of a bad acid trip. We had a terrace of sorts: about eight square feet surrounded by walls above our sight lines.

Great location in front of the cathedral. This was very easy to get on our day trip to Douro Valley as the meeting spot was in front. Very helpful staff. Rooms are clean and modern. Great breakfast buffet!

Pros: - The staff are exceedingly kind and helpful! - Location! Location! Location! Central to everything!! - Newly renovated, very clean & well maintained. Cons: - Bath situation (can't even call it a room) is bizarre!!! The shower room is a 2.5ft x 4ft stall on one side of the entryway. If you are a large/broad person, this will be a tight fit. Toilet room is the same size on the other side of the hallway and is carpeted. The toilet room has a barn-door style, and doesn't meet the wall, so someone in the room can watch you on the toilet. And then the sink is in the sleeping area. - The room is dark, the shower & toilet room is dark. There's pin lights everywhere but it's more of an ambient light than what's needed in certain areas. - Mirrors are on the toilet door, and on the side of the sink. Combined w the poor lighting, it's incredibly hard to shave or apply makeup. - We had to catch a tour by 7:30. No shops were open that early, so we had the hotel's breakfast buffet which opens at 7. They opened the doors at 7:05. By 7:25 half the buffet still wasn't setup, and we had to leave. So we paid 20 euros (buffet price) for...some bread. I'm not sure if the timing/setup problems was a one-off or standard. Overall it's a clean, safe, well maintained, well run hotel in a fantastic location. The staff does an incredible job making you feel welcome.

Great location across the st from the historic cathedral. Easy walk to all the sites and even to get across the bridge to port tastings. Front Desk person gave us directions and a map to all the best sites and restaurants. Rooms are small, but typical for Europe.
