There's a restaurant on site. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. WiFi is free in public spaces. Multilingual staff, tour/ticket assistance, and concierge services are also featured at MesĂłn SacristĂa de la CompañĂa.
I was going to participate in a Fair in Puebla (at the Convention Centre) and decided NOT to stay in one of the larger, chain related hotels in order to get a better feel of the history and tradition for which Puebla is widely known, particularly to us mexicans. I have to confess el MesĂłn was MORE than a lovely surprise! Built in a 17th century old house, right at the edge of the old core of the city, with a very colorful and lively inner courtyard, the MesĂłn de la SacristĂa will certainly win anyone's heart. The rooms are very spacious and the furnishings and surprises that come with it are sure to win anyone's heart. The personnel is friendly, willing to please and attentive to detail... I had the courage to bring my work colleagues along for lunch and I have to confess I took a certain pleasure at their disbelief and envious look once they were brought across the threshold. In all: YES! AGAIN, please!
I think the Meson is such a unique property. It was very comfortable. The staff was so friendly and very helpful. Despite being on a main street, it was very quiet at night. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it. I look forward to my next stay there.
A darling hotel in the heart of Puebla. Staying in a traditional casona you really feel you've gone back in time but with all the modern amenities. Carlos, the innkeeper, was a joy and we loved everything about our stay here. Highly recommend!
Lovely property, however, I did not notice in the âspecial instructionsâ that guests could only check in during a very limited 2 hour time frame. It also said that guests arriving after 3 pm would not be able to check in until the next day. My husband and I panicked, as it was already close to 5 pm by the time we arrived. We thought we really had a problem, as it was New Years Eve, and all of the other hotels in town were full. Fortunately, we were able to contact the hotel and give our arrival time. The guy at the desk said that was no problem and that we could check in whenever. If this is the case, the message about limited check in hours should be removed. What hotel only allows a 2 hour check in time?
Also, the property is a bit of a distance from the town of Taxco and there is no restaurant (they only offer breakfast). Guests should be advised to eat dinner or bring it with them as there is also no other option nearby. Being that it is a distance from town, a restaurant should be available.
What this hotel lacks in luxury it makes up in charm. It is almost like living in a museum. Be patient with the hot water. It takes time but will get there. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very nice breakfast included and the chicken soup is wonderful. My second stay there and hope it won't be my last.
Absolutely lovely experience at this special boutique hotel! The room was breathtakingly furnished, the bed comfortable and many thoughtful touches added to make the stay perfect. The service was friendly and efficient, the breakfast delicious. The location rocksâtwo blocks from the Zocalo and on a classic street (Toad Alley.)
I will definitely return.
Great location right off main points of interest. Pretty little street. Our room was gorgeous, old furnishings, nice sitting area. Rooms open up onto a shared, courtyard restaurant. Perfect for our needs. Like many hotels in Mexico, hot water is not consistent in shower. The courtyard is a well reviewed restaurant, open to the public. That is good and bad. Great music in the afternoon on the weekend when we were there. Loud late one night when we were headed off to sleep. I rated it a "4" for service, not for any bad reason but simply the lack of a "host" type feel like we have experienced in some of the best boutique type hotels. Staff was nice enough but it didn't feel as homey as some other places.
The location is perfect and the decor is amazing. And the included breakfast is wonderful but I wouldnât stay again largely because I didnât have hot water for a shower. Additionally, checkin came with no basic information like check out times, when the front door locks and what to do if you arenât back or a simple reminder that breakfast is included. It could be so much better.
The staff is excellent. Bed was nice and room was clean. Hotel is close to great food, museums, the plaza - just a great location within walking distance of everything. Breakfast at the hotel was substandard everyday. The room was warm and the ceiling fan inadequate. Water pressure in the shower left a little to be desired also. This is a common problem in Puebla. Hotel is filled with Mexican antiques and culture.
There are many pluses to this hotel, but negatives outweigh. I could never recommend staying here. As non-Spanish speakers, we struggled to communicate with staff. They treated us well, but we were taken advantage of by restaurant staff in a scam we suspect they repeat. On our last night Luis, our waiter throughout our stay, set 2 bottles of mezcal out and said they were âhouse mezcalsâ and proceeded to write down prices for us. The amounts seemed high, but we were willing to pay for mezcal we could not get in the US. When we agreed to the purchase, staff that had been hovering went to the kitchen for an energized conversation, which put us on edge. Once in our room we investigated prices and realized they were inflated by 300% over retail. With limited language skills, we felt it was impossible to undo the transaction that night. I strongly suspect the staff split the proceeds of the scam. We have since contacted the hotel owners and management regarding the situation. They chose to do nothing. Lesson learned: do not be so trusting. A quality hotel should only hire employees they and their guest can trust, and that is not the case at this hotel. A more careful reading of other reviews upon our return, it is clear this is a known issue and that management does not care to protect guests from similar episodes of scams and over-charges.
A mi llegada no hubo agua caliente. El personal lo revisó y dejaron el baño mojado para decir lo siento no sale caliente despues de una hora. Terrible.
The location is great. Itâs a short walk away from the Zocalo and steps away from a nice small bar. The breakfast was good.
The staff gave a weird vibe. In particular two of them; they seemed creepy to me. The small table and the dresser in our room had a broken piece. There was a hole in the bathroom wall and the small mirror looked like it had been glued back on. No big deal, but no one wants to see their room falling apart. The shower caps seemed used. One had a small hole and was stretched out (used). When we arrived, the towels were stiff. One had a dirt stain.
The beds were horrible! The worst iâve ever slept in! I will not be staying here again mainly because of that. I need a good night sleep... especially after being out all day exploring! Also, check your bill. We had a few drinks at the bar and they tried to charge us for an extra drink.
