Rose Cottage - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
A charming stone cottage in a tranquil setting next to Glasfryn Hall. Rose Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia. Closer to home, there are lovely walking trails around the estate and its 13 acre lake. Ground Floor Kitchen/Diner With an electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Sitting Room A cosy sitting room with a woodburning stove. Bedroom 1 Superking bed with an en-suite bathroom, with a shower over the bath. Bedroom 2 A zip and link twin room, which can joined to make a superking bed. Family Bathroom Bath with shower over. First Floor Bedrooms 3 & 4 These first floor single rooms are accessed by a very steep staircase and have limited head space. So they are not suitable for tall adults or children under the age of ten. Outside A lovely cottage garden that is shared with the nearby Coach House and has plenty of outdoor furniture and space to play or sunbathe. There is also ample parking at the cottage. The Local Area At the heart of the Llyn Peninsula, Rose Cottage guests are in a great location for touring all the villages and coves of this beautiful part of North Wales. The nearby Glasfryn Parc offers a great range of activities for all the family, including go-karting, archery and wakeboarding. And the pretty seaside village of Nefyn is a short drive away, with its famous Ty Coch Inn on the beach and its recently reopened LlĆ·n Maritime Museum which tells the story of the peninsula's often stormy relationship with the sea.. The National Trust's beach at Whistling Sands and a boat trip around Bardsey Island are well worth a day trip, and Snowdonia is within easy reach.

Nice place, probably wouldn't stop again
This cottage is quaint, in a lovely location and has huge potential to be great, but sadly it just isn't.
On arrival the parking situation was unclear, so I parked where I thought was suitable and got asked to move by one of the other cottages as they had 3 cars. I called several numbers, got an answer and told to park on some grass that was not ideal in the wet Wales weather.
The cottage itself was not clean, the cutlery and cooker still had someone's dinner on them and the decor, furniture and beds all very tired.
The garden situation was also odd, sharing a garden with the next door cottage. It was also unclear which parts of the estate you could explore.
With a little investment, this could be a lovely place, but as it is, I wouldn't rush back .

Lovely cottage. Quiet and quaint
Rose Cottage was a perfect break for 7 nights. It accommodated 5 of us comfortably (sleeps 6) with the kids staying upstairs (the stairs are steep but not a problem). Very comfortable living room with a huge Log Burner.
Outside was a nice small garden. As the seating was only for 4, a couple of extra garden chairs could be useful. We found one nearby though and used that. The larger property have their garden next to the property, so you can end up with both groups sat outside. Not an issue but some people might like extra privacy. We used the garden each day and night.
Some reviews complained a bit about cleanliness. It's an old cottage, it could suffer a spring clean, but to be honest it was fine for us. Dust on lampshades isn't going to end the world. Clean beds, linen, kitchen, bathroom etc - all fine. The Estate is interesting being part of the Clough-Williams Ellis family (the guy who built Portmerion grew up here). Look out for the topiary bird. 40 years ago I stayed at a nearby cottage as a child and his relative, Roger Clough-Williams Ellis sat me on an almost identical topiary bird the day of a big earthquake in Wales (mid-80s). A private lake is nearby but not really anywhere to access it and we weren't sure if we could. Didn't have time but was tempted to have a sneaky wild swim. Oystercottages were also helpful in all respects.

A very quiet peaceful comfortable cottage with period features and styling
We enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. There were some initial issues which were resolved by the owner very promptly. The information from Oyster Cottages describes a Superking size bed in the main room, It is a very comfy bed in a lovely room but it is only a Kingsized. The two singles in the 2nd bedroom downstairs can be converted to a Superking size though.
My score of 3 on cleanliness is due to this being an old property and there were inevitable cobwebs in nooks and crannies but we found some of the kitchen items not to have been cleaned properly by the previous occupants. This was rectified immediately by the owner. The towels bedding and furniture were spotless.
The cottage is very old with thick walls which means it stays cool in the summer. I imagine in the winter with the log burner it is very toasty. It does have electric radiators throughout. The kitchen has all the basics needed except a potato peeler. The living room is comfy and the TV links to all major streaming services with your own account.
If you are using the bedrooms upstairs they are very steep like on a ship and so I'd be happier with children 6 - 12 using them but maybe not younger.
The location is incredibly quiet and peaceful and there are walks from the door. But you are also very close to the main A and B roads for exploring the whole of the peninsula. After a day out with the tourist crowds it was lovely to come back and be in the quiet countryside.
Overall we had a really relaxing week, we would be happy to stay in the cottage again but we have probably " done" the Lynn Peninsula as we are not "sit and play on a beach" people. If you are there, are plenty of opportunities to do that on beautiful beaches all close to the Cottage. We particularly liked the look of LLanbedrog.
