Couples vacation

We had wonderful time in a beautiful modern villa with a great location for touring the south east of Sicily. Our host Carmelo provided all the information we needed to plan day trips and made many good restaurant recommendations. Too bad we were here's in February and could not take advantage of the beautiful infinity pool. But we did barbecue some fresh fish we would purchase in the port of Donnalucata. All in all great place to stay

Disappointed by surrounding building sites.

Amazing villa, really light and spacious with all the amenities provided. The pool is the best pool we have ever had, clean with stunning views in the main. The pool pictures are a little cleverly taken and don’t reveal the rest of the view. The villa has a new addition of a wrap around sun terrace which provides great shade. The sunsets in the evening are spectacular. Before I provide details on the local amenities, I think it’s fair to point out that there is quite a lot of construction work taking place. Next door are in the middle of renovating their villa, we had angle grinding taking place Monday to Saturday, on and off throughout the day. Most days it’s was bearable as it would run for a few minutes, stop for 20mins to an hour then start up again. We did have one day where it was too much and we had to get out to the beach. Below in the valley which is very close is a brand new building site, again not awful, but combined with next door and other digging work taking place it took the edge of the holiday a little after paying so much money. The area is not the prettiest, but the villa makes up for this. It’s situated on a very steep and unpaved road. You can walk to one the pizza restaurant down the hill that takes 15mins to get to, highly recommended on a Sunday, all the seating is outside under beautiful trees and there are lights hanging down everywhere. Great food. The main marina is lovely and at night comes alive with lots of hustle and bustle. Summary- I would have given it 4 out of 5, however the construction was a real shame and whilst we didn’t let it spoil the holiday, some days it took the edge off of being able to relax and enjoy our break. It’s obviously it’s been there for a while and felt a little disappointed that we were not informed.

Excellent, well run villa rental

Villa Castellana is well appointed property in a safe and friendly neighbourhood; the villa is not too fussy and had all we needed for a family of five; the villa is close enough to walk into Marina di Ragusa where there are some excellent restaurants. Our host Carmelo was really helpful and gave us all the information we needed for a perfect stay.

Great villa

We had a great holiday in this villa. We found it to be clean and modern with comfy beds, excellent showers, good storage, good WiFi and air conditioning and generally well equipped. The pool was perfect for our family and the kids enjoyed the jacuzzi corner. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the terrace and made regular use of the BBQ. The terrace could do with having a fixed cover as there were days when it was a bit blustery for the parasol but I’m being very picky with this comment. It was a great location for exploring the towns of Ragusa, Modica and Scicli. We also ventured up to Taormina and did a day trip on Mount Etna (which although a 2 hour drive was the highlight of the holiday). The walk down to the marina was a bit too steep for the youngest and oldest in our group so having a hire car to do the shopping/exploring is recommended. Excellent communication with Guiseppe before and after booking and great to have Carmelo on hand when at the villa. All in all one of the best villas we have stayed in.

Great view great stay

We enjoyed the top modern style and the great scenic view over Marina di Ragusa. The villa is in fantastic shape and everything is organized in a very convenient and friendly way. If we find time we will for sure come back.

5 of us had a great week at the villa which was delightful and well equipped. A great base to explore Ragusa, Modica and the resorts on the coast. Good to return to the pool and BBQ at the end of the day.

Lovely family holiday villa

We all thoroughly enjoyed the spacious, modern and well equipped villa, beautiful views and relaxing infinity pool. The villa gets the sun all day, great bbq area fir cooking and eating outdoors. The owner Giuseppe was extremely helpful and always available. Views are great but a bit far to walk to the marina, definitely need a car.

This villa was extremely well appointed and very clean. Our family with two young children had a wonderful stay. Guiseppe, the property manager, was very responsive, helpful and friendly. As a frequent user of VRBO this was the best property's we have ever stayed at and would happily return and recommend to others!!

Perfect Sicilian Retreat

We had a great holiday at Villa Castellana. The villa itself had everything we needed, with great views, pool and accommodation. Giuseppe was on hand if we had any questions about the place or the local area. It's a little walk into town or to the local supermarket down a fairly steep hill so I'd recommend a car. The villa was a great base for seeing the SE of Sicily, with a short drive to beautiful towns of Ragusa and Modica, or the many beaches and wineries nearby. We really enjoyed the place and this area of Sicily - we are looking forward to returning soon.

It's the sort of place you wished was yours

Had a great time with the family and I would return to this little bit of Italian heaven big island to see all of it you'd need months but Marina di Ragusa is a very hospitalble and welcoming place, our hosts were on call if we needed them and the villa almost felt brand new, very modern feel to it and I loved the electric gate and privacy. The Villa is a great place very safe no problems with security or the neighborhood. There are quite a few holiday homes in the area, most seem to be privately owned and well maintained, as is this villa, I would only make one recommendation, and it's not a bad thing just a preference, BBQ should always be charcoal. Apart from that one thing the rest of the Villa was great I almost was tempted to make them an offer they could not refuse, lol. Wifi was good the sound system was OK just couldn't operate it personally, outdoor showers were my favorite and the Air-conditioning system took a little time to get a grip with but when did it was like living in a refrigerator if that's what you wanted, it's a modern system and works when all the doors and windows are shut, we tended to use it mostly when cooking and a little during the hot Sicilian nights. Must be 100% in my top 10 holidays and I'm not going to list all of them but Hawaii is my number one and the villa in Bodrum Turkey was just as impressive but still my number ten, as a first generation British-Italian, born and breed Britalian. But Italy has my heart and will always win, Sicily being part of that, I would return any day. Airport run with a decent satnav will take you around 1 hour and 30 minutes, the bus service is good but your better off getting a car, I needed a 9 seater minibus with the family I have. Perfect villa near the marina

The villa is amazing. The pool is perfect and has a small jacuzzi area. The kids loved playing in it. The house is clean has comfortable beds and is fully equipped. As mentioned there is a 10-15minute walk from the villa to the marina along roads without paths but the roads were well lit and the traffic slowed obviously used to that stretch of road. The Eurospar is at at the bottom of a hill so a car when self catering is more appropriate. Take the road from the approach from Ragusa to the villa as its narrow when approaching up the hill. Overall the villa was perfect for our family

Brilliant villa

We had a wonderful time and the villa provided the ideal base for us. Close to the marina and other amenities, but we recommend having a hire car for your stay as the hill is quite steep to get to the villa. All in all a lovely place to stay and the the manager, Carmelo, was extremely helpful!

Good villa with needed pool.

The villa was clean and modern. It was the right size for our family group of 5. The pool was perfect for our needs and was needed when outside with the heat of Jul/Aug. Outside furniture was good. Carmelo our contact was friendly and welcoming. Only one thing needed another sofa, as only one sofa for 3 people.

Comfortable stay for 3 generation family of 7.

Modern, comfortably airconditioned and well equipped house. Good housekeeping and gardening service. Shabby access road. Long and steep walk to shops, restaurants and beach, i.e. car necessary. Parking space for 2 vehicles inside locked gate. The pool with max depth of 1,4 m. was perfect playground for our grandchildren (6 and 8).

Erholsame Tage

Die Villa war sehr sauber und praktisch eingerichtet. Der Pool super. Wir waren 6 Erwachsene und hatten das so auch gebucht. Leider musste die 6.Person auf einer eher Campingliege übernachten. Das wurde so nicht kommuniziert. Alles in Allem hatten wir einen schönen Aufenthalt und können die Villa empfehlen.

Angenehmer Aufenthalt

Das Haus, der Poolbereich und die Lage waren trotz einiger Baustellen in der Nähe schön. Auch die Kommunikation mit dem Verwalter hat gut geklappt. Alles war sehr sauber und die Ausstattung OK. Den Blick über das nette Marina di Ragusa bis zum Meer haben wir genossen. Nur was tut man dem schönen Sizilien an: marode Straßen, Müll überall verstreut, Bauruinen! Sehr, sehr schade!
