Very experienced traveler here, have been to the poorest countries in the world and do not ask for much nor complain, but THIS WAS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING TRIP EVER. Booked this trip for the babymoon. Specifically selected an Adults Only hotel and booked a beachfront room. WE DID NOT GET A BEACHFRONT ROOM - there was sand when we walked out, sure, but it wasn't a beach. it was just a sandy area with trees and a hammock. The room is filled with bugs, including the bed. Not bed bugs, but still lots of bugs. The room we got was located closer to the dining and bar area so all day and especially evening we heard lots of clanking of dishes/glasses being cleaned or organized. Absolutely impossible to get any rest or relaxation - which was the whole point of this trip. The pool was green and filthy so the only option if you did want to dip in was to go to their next door sister hotel which had a beautifully cleaned pool - but as that one is a family friendly resort with lots of children - it negated the whole purpose of spending extra on an Adults Only hotel. Also, if you like to have a good breakfast, please do not count on eating here. Lastly, the included breakfast buffet is just an assortment of fruit and breads. Nothing else. You can order other breakfast dishes that start at $20, which was fine for us, but its clear that they did this simply to check "breakfast included" mark. I would not come back here even if they offered a free stay. A very poor representation of the island

Our beachfront suites have insect screens on all windows as well as insect spray in the room. In addition, we engage a specialist pest control company to regularly spray the surrounding areas. However, insects are quickly attracted to any water or food left on benches or out in the open, and we encourage all guests to use the fridges provided.
As a small island with irregular shipping from time to time the local swimming pools supplier runs out of pool cleaning chemicals, however this has since been rectified.
If you had let us know that you would have preferred a different beachfront suite, we would have made every effort to accommodate your request.
Our rate includes a complimentary ‘continental tropical breakfast’ which comprises seasonal fresh island fruits, fresh fruit salad, home-stewed fruits, Bircher muesli, homemade yoghurt, fresh-baked breads, pastries, pancakes, muffins & croissants, cereals, toast, spreads, fruit juices, tea & coffee.
Our breakfast a la carte menu starts from $9 and we offer café meals such as eggs on toast; mushrooms & bacon on toast; French toast; omelette; eggs Benedict; and big Island breakfast, plus a number of sides.
We have a Duty Manager available from 7am – 10pm who would have been happy to address your concerns while you were here, and I would have been happy to meet with you also.

Nice Room On The Beach
Pros:The location of Sanctuary Rarotonga is EXCELLENT!!!
Cons:A lighter dinner menu option for a change and not all the bartenders know how to make a tropical drink.
Location:Location is excellent. We only did a couple excursions.
If you are looking to be pampered and waited on hand and foot, this isn't for you. This was our second trip to Sanctuary Rarotonga in the past 2 years. Both times, we stayed in the 700 block with the beach and sand right outside our door. We both love the location and the quiet environment to just relax and unwind for a couple weeks. The staff was very helpful and took care of all our needs - which wasn't much - we are simple people and all of our vacations are what we make of it. This resort sits on Aero Beach which is very good for snorkeling, watching the sunrise and sunset, and late at night looking up at the Milky Way, pointing out the constellations, watching the Southern Cross come up on the horizon and you can also see the 2 Magellin Galaxies. We snorkeled Muri Beach, Fruits of Rarotonga and Black Rock and the best snorkeling on the island in our opinion is Aero Beach which is why we continue to come back.

Fabulous to relax!
Lots of negative reviews about the speed of service...is slow but excellent food and service...just slow. Don't expect more, take a book or just relax. The staff was so friendly, it was a really small family like feel to the hotel. Perfect and on island time. The food was amazing!
