Thank you for choosing Rathdrum Mountain Guest House. It is our goal to offer our guests a welcoming and relaxing retreat to unwind, explore, and enjoy the nature trails on our private land at the base of Rathdrum Mountain. This cozy retreat is designed for two people but accommodates four. We hope you enjoy the comfortable atmosphere, luxury amenities, antiques, and the beauty of nature that surrounds us. Relax during your stay and enjoy the Finnleo outdoor sauna, spa-quality bath products, cozy robes and slippers. We offer a fully stocked kitchen with all-new appliances and high-end cookware. Sleep beautifully in our well-appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king size Saatva luxury-firm mattress. Queen room features a softer Oceano Luxury mattress from Brentwood Homes. Both bedrooms feature European white goose-down feather pillows and are tripled sheeted with 100% cotton linens. Well-mannered and positively potty-trained dogs are welcome. A luxury dog house and outdoor kennel is available complete with dog toys and various sized dog beds. Grill and dine outdoors next to the seasonal creek or enjoy several local restaurants nearby. The house is equipped with a smart-TV, Wi-Fi, books, games, records and more.

Lovely! Our stay at RMGH exceeded our expectations in every way. We were greeted by our host who gave us a thorough walk-through of the property and left us with a lovely charcuterie welcome spread. The kitchen was fully stocked and filled with everything to cook gourmet meals. We planned to eat dinners in because we brought our two dogs who were treated to toys and a large puppy palace in the yard. The property is very private so having coffee in our spa robes on the porch was a treat. I cannot recommend RMGH enough and will happily return on our next trip to the area.

Our Best VRBO Experience Ever

From the moment we arrived at Rathdrum Mountain Guest House, we knew we had found something truly special. Nestled at the base of the mountain, this retreat is a peaceful sanctuary where every detail has been thoughtfully curated.Our host, Susan, was extremely welcoming. Communication was exactly what you hope for — timely, clear, and friendly — making our stay effortless from start to finish. She made us feel so comfortable that we didn’t want to leave!The blend of cozy charm and luxury is unmatched. The master bedroom’s Saatva luxury-firm mattress gave us the best night’s sleep we’ve had in ages, and the triple-sheeted 100% cotton linens with European goose-down pillows made it feel like a five-star hotel in the middle of nature.It’s the small details that truly set this place apart — a stocked fridge and pantry, plush robes and slippers, spa-quality bath products, and even thoughtful touches for our dog. The Finnleo outdoor sauna was the perfect way to unwind in the evenings, and the private nature trails made our mornings magical.We’ve stayed in many vacation rentals, but this was hands-down the best VRBO experience we’ve ever had. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!

Amazing! We've stayed a fancier places, but they don't compare to the complete package this cottage has to offer. This place is begging you to stay, relax, and truly enjoy the comforts of the cottage and the outdoor amenities. I wish we could have stayed longer to truly enjoy it. Susan lives nearby so she was able to greet us, give us a tour of what the cottage offers, and bless us with a delicious charcuterie board. The pantry and fridge were also stocked for our enjoyment- eggs, milk, mini ice creams, fruit, etc. The kitchen may be smaller, but it is the best stocked kitchen I've seen when it comes to cooking and baking. Pop a record onto the record player and listen to some great music while you cook, or choose to sit and relax while enjoying the beautifully decorated cottage and surrounding outdoors. Outside in the backyard you will find a hammock that makes a great place to enjoy a good book. You will also find several trails to explore right out the backdoor.This is a place we will definitely come back to and enjoy in the future.

This is the first time I used this site, so I was a little bit nervous at first.. Susan very quickly calmed those fears and nervousness. From the start, her communication was absolutely on point. When we pulled up to the location, she was there waiting at the door for us. She had fresh slippers and a charcuterie board wating for us. She took the time to take us on a tour of the house, talked about the history of the property and the amenties offered with the house. It is very apparent that this couple takes so much pride in offering the absolute best accomodations for their guests. There is a lovely sauna, with full instructions and hiking trails through out the property. There are also several different relaxing seating areas on the property as well. There are two bedrooms to choose from. Both are exquisitely detailed, including different pillow types, and just so, so luxurious. The bath amenties are absolutely top notch. She also has gone out of her way to stock the fridge and pantry, offering anything you might need for your stay. every single detail and added touch with this property is absolutely un-matched. This was above and beyond my favorite vacation stay, that I have experienced. We will be coming back.

The online property description & pictures were accurate. It really is as good as it looks. We were comfortable from the moment we arrived. It hit 100 degrees that day and Susan had the A/C on for us already. That thoughtful touch is emblematic of how Susan runs her VRBO. Everything exceeded expectations from the stocked frig, toiletries, and pet supplies. What isn't mentioned enough is the property itself and the hiking trails. If you stay, don't miss them. They give a great workout and the view from the top is worth it. Thank you Susan & Tom for making this one of our very best vacations.

Such a great place! Susan stocked the place with drinks, a charcuterie board (even made it gluten free for us,) organic dairy in the fridge and soup! The towels were amazing and the kitchen has everything you need. The sauna and trails were a nice bonus. The property is well taken care of and clean. Susan thought of everything. Lovely place and we’ll happily stay here again!

5-Star and Pet Friendly

We have staying in quite a few VRBO's, but none like this! CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!! Our host is amazing and truly believes in pampering her guests. She even has a stocked fridge and pantry, and birthday wishes for me. I have never enjoyed beautiful antiques like this one. Her towels and linens are of the best quality. They even have a huge dog house with a cot and a dog run. Highly recommend this wonderful guest house!!

Our stay was filled with enjoying the hot Finnish sauna and marvelling at the record collection. A wonderful stay and we definitely enjoyed making new turkey friends. Furthermore, Susan and Tom have thought of everything that anyone staying there could possibly need. Perfect charming quaint cottage

Truly beautiful

Host was amazing! Met us at the house and gave us a tour and left us with a charcuterie tray of delicious snacks. From there it was a stay filled with nature in a beautiful home. The wild turkeys that stopped by along with the curious Alpacas next door made this trip peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. We were just outside the town so restaurants and necessities were just right there. So glad we chose this place!

Best VRBO hosts ever

After a very long drive of over 7 hours, we were greeted with the biggest smile and welcoming hug than we have ever received from a host. After welcoming us inside we were delighted to find a welcoming charcuterie board consisting of fruits, assorted cheeses and meats. A wonderful unexpected bonus. The cabin is charming with a hint of modern and rustic all in one. The property is located in a very quiet are of Rathdrum and is easily located close to all of the things to do in the area, The refrigerator is stocked with items for your use as well as a nicely stocked pantry. All complementary and included in your stay. The larger of the two bedrooms has a wonderful king sized mattress while the smaller bedroom appears to be a queen. All the appliances are spotless and new. The property affords many hiking trails, be sure to hike up the "valley overlook" where you are treated to two adirondack chairs with sweeping views of the valley below. A daily visit by wild turkeys is very entertaining. There is a wood stove for cold nights and don't miss the sauna on the back porch. If conditions are ok, there is a nice fire pit in the back yard. There is air conditioning and heat via ductless heat pumps. There is a nice deck of the main living area. For longer term stays there is a washer and dryer to use.we will definitely book again if the need arises.

Beyond Expectations!

This place was wonderful and relaxing. We always choose vacation rentals over hotels because we are more comfortable having room to stretch out. But this place offered so much more. It was close to restaurants but there was no need to go out with the ammenities provided. No detail was left out. We even got to Experience them shearing the alpacas during our stay which was fitting because we were in the area to attend modern homesteading conference.

A healing refuge at the mountain

My wife and I had such an unexpectedly wonderful stay at RMGH. Susan and Tom have created an oasis that truly was one of the best accommodations we have ever stayed at. We have travelled to a variety of destinations both in North America and abroad, but rarely have we encountered such loving details and finer touches. Susan and Tom really know how to create a special atmosphere. When we arrived we were very hungry and thoroughly enjoyed the delicious charcuterie, and ice cold beer in the fridge. The kitchen (spotless) and pantry is better stocked than most homes. The record collection could compete with the most diehard audiophiles. The furniture and antiques are impressive, yet comfortable and tastefully selected. The dog house is something from a fairytale. And the outdoor sauna basically insures you'll never want to leave. We loved our many hikes on the trails and some gentle snoozes in the hammock. And very much appreciated the loving cards and notes left for us. After suffering the greatest loss of our lives, my wife and I have set out on a healing journey. Susan and Tom's was our first stop and our memories there will always be cherished. Thank you so much for your love and compassion.

Rathdrum Gem!

What a find! We needed a place to sleep and shower while visiting family in the area. This vacation rental was so much more! The home is just lovely! It has been decorated with thought and care. The attention to every detail is amazing. Our host personally welcomed us to offer a walkthrough. We were tired and hungry after a day on the road. To our surprise, the kitchen was stalled with snacks, treats and beverages. No need for us to venture back out for a meal. Finally, Susan, is a wonderful host. She attended to our every need and then some. Susan was so accommodating and a joy to visit with. She was also respectful of giving us our space. This is by far the best VRBO we have rented. We’ll be back!

Perfection Extraordinaire

We just stayed at Thomas and Susan's Rathdrum Mountain House for 5 nights in the middle of April. It was truly one of the nicest and most beautiful and wonderful places we have ever stayed. We usually are van campers so this was luxurious for us. Previous reviewers have captured everything and we agree with all the comments. The house is beautiful, every detail is perfect and so well thought out. They were waiting for us when we arrived, and there was a lovely cheese, meat and fruit platter. The beds, linens, and bathroom products were exquisite. The kitchen appliances and cookware were top notch. The sauna was absolutely wonderful, the outdoor fire pit next to the seasonal creek was perfect, and the hiking on the 35 acre mountain was amazing, with marked trails. We enjoyed walks several times a day. We barely left the property the whole 5 days we were there, except to hike and do a bit of exploring the area. We cooked food we brought, (although there was a lot of food provided) but did drink the beer and wine (thanks, Tom!), listened to the fabulous records (yes, albums!) collection every night and were pampered unlike any trip ever. We and our dog, Ellie, wished we never had to leave. Tom and Susan have created a magical sanctuary complete with their alpacas next door and wild turkeys roaming the property. We never saw deer or moose, but they live there on their large property. We will return again and again. Don't hesitate to stay here if you want a heavenly experience.

Secluded Luxury

This is a great place to stay! We felt very special and pampered during our visit. The hosts have included a lot of unique touches to help guests feel comfortable and relaxed. A lit fire in the stove, fresh flowers, luxury bath products, luxury linens and towels! They provide a pantry with items to cook, spices, appliances, and a fridge stocked with a few of the important basics, like milk, eggs, beer and wine! The outdoor Sauna was wonderful, private and very relaxing, with the creek gurgling nearby. The house is warm and cozy, perfect for a winter get away! Tom and Susan are attentive, friendly and worked hard to make our stay very enjoyable. Thank you!
