The Hideout at Dexfield Park

Located just 20 kms west of Port Macquarie on the beautiful Mid North Coast of New South Wales, The Hideout is your perfect getaway for experiencing tranquility, relaxation or activity… up to you!

Port Macquarie, situated at the mouth of the Hastings River, has possibly the most favourable climate in NSW. There are wonderful beaches and for watersports enthusiasts there is jet boating, parasailing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving and beach and estuary fishing. Enjoy whalewatching cruises in season and a wide variety of river cruises or simply stand on the beach and watch the dolphins at play. If you are in the mood for something different, how about a camel ride along the beach? There are a number of vineyards around the area as well as a great boutique brewery. The area is a haven for koalas and they can be seen at the various wildlife parks or at the koala hospital in town. Port Macquarie boasts a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes to suit every taste.

Nearby Wauchope is surrounded by blackbutt forest and is best known for the nearby Timbertown theme park. The town has a good range of shops, cafes and banks.

The Hideout is located at Dexfield Park, a 33 acre rural property close to Wauchope and is available to visitors to experience in whatever way they choose. The southern edge of the property borders a branch of the Hastings River and provides a perfect spot for fishing from the bank or simply enjoying the serenity of the river. The property has its own private airstrip. However this is only used by the owners or visitors who have received permission to land. Therefore, there will be little to disturb your quiet enjoyment of The Hideout. The owners live adjacent to The Hideout and are available to answer questions or deal with maintenance issues.

Your accommodation is a modern 2 bedroomed, self-contained cottage that has been designed and constructed to a high standard. One bedroom has a king bed and the second bedroom has a queen bed and a single bed. Quality linen and towels are supplied. The spacious decks and verandah offer a great space to dine, enjoy a glass of wine or just take in the sunset and admire the passing seasons and wildlife. Over 80 bird species have been spotted here either resident or visiting.

To further enhance your stay, you may choose to take a dip in the 15m solar heated saltwater pool (warm months only). The pool is situated in front of our house. We offer guests priority access. Our little town of Wauchope is 8 minutes drive away and offers a good supermarket and many independent shops. A BBQ is available.

We welcome children and small well-behaved dogs. There is ample car parking available.

The owners, Sue and Clyde, are so wonderful and incredibly welcoming. Fantastic dog-friendly property

We had a fantastic long weekend relaxing in this lovely, new clean house with a wonderful aspect and lots of space to keep the dogs exercised. The property is easy to find and the hosts were very friendly, welcoming, and kind. We have family in Wauchope so we’ll definitely be returning to stay again - just wish we could fly-in!

Holiday at The Hideout

This was our fifth stay at The Hideout. We have been coming here over the past ten years, and the whole family just love it. It is our oasis and go-to escape for a truly enjoyable and relaxing break. The property is lovely, and the owners Clyde and Sue the perfect hosts. We would recommend it to others, but we’d like to keep it our secret refuge.

Perfect getaway on the mid north coast

We had the most perfect time at Sue’s property. The place itself is amazing and we loved the pool and seeing the kangaroos out the back every morning and dusk. We were only 20 minutes from Port Macquarie so it was easy to access beaches and restaurants, but it was so lovely to be able to escape to our own place away from the crowds at the end of the day. Highly recommended, we can’t wait to go back.

Sue & Clyde’s property was our home away from home for 5 nights of uninterrupted peace & relaxation - yet close enough to Wauchope, Bargo & Port Mac to visit the beach, the pub or the shops if needed. Our kids enjoyed the pool; our dog the beautiful grounds to run around (note: property fully fenced but house not immediately enclosed). The house itself was immaculately clean; the kitchen well equipped. A really fabulous place for a recharging family getaway. Thank you for having us Sue & Clyde!

We had a peaceful and relaxing stay. Our dog Buster especially loved it as he was able to roam free on the property with few limitations. Well done to Port Macquarie for having DOG FRIENDLY beaches. Something the Northern Beaches of Sydney could do better 🐶

Great house for a mini break!

The Hideout is a great place to stay with family, kids and pet. We stayed 4 nights and loved it. The house was really clean and had everything we needed. Waking up and going straight to the swimming pool was the best part of the day. We had some beautiful weather and took full advantage of the balcony for dinners and grassy area for the kiddie and dog. Thanks Sue for a great stay, we will be back!

A relaxing stay for both myself and my dog

This was my second stay at the Hideout which is located near Wauchope and near walking trails in state forests. The house was immaculate and I received a warm welcome from the owners. Of particular mention is the wonderful down quilt on the bed. My little dog wandered around the grounds safely and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the world around him.

Idealic country retreat

We absolutely loved our stay at Sue and Clyde's lovely country house! This is a five-star accommodation located in the beautiful countryside with great views. The place was comfortable, clean, well equipped, quiet and private. We absolutely loved the bed mattress, and it was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in! The undercover deck offers great views, perfect for watching the wildlife and the large garden was ideal for our doggie. We also enjoyed our walks to the Caswell Channel, which is a quick walk to the bottom of the property. Sue and Clyde were great hosts, and we highly recommend their place!

Hideaway by name and Hideaway by nature

Sue made us so comfortable. The stand alone cottage has everything one could wish for. The advertisement and the reality match - it is a haven for rest. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has good and plentiful crockery, pots, pans and utensils to make a good meal. There are books, interesting magazines and board games. The gardens are well kept, inviting walks in spare time. Sue has generously stocked the pantry with essentials that you usually have to go and buy - coffee tea etc. There are several tvs and the Wifi is good. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
