This property was extremely close to the beach and had a lot of sleeping areas for more than 10 guests. It was a quiet street but the house shared walls with the neighbors which sometimes did not make it feel as private. The dishwasher was broken when we got there and the management said that the repair person was âoffâ that week. They sent someone at the day before we were leaving to fix it and they did not even fix it. We also had issues with the neighbors. The man next door charged in our house while only my 90 year old grandmother was home claiming one of his chairs was on our rooftop deck. We would have gladly moved it back over the railing, he had no right coming into our rental property.
Other than those issues, the house was a great place for a family to gather for a relaxing beach vacation.
Great location, some confusing communication issues
This is an amazing property very close to the beach and well kept. My only concerns were around the cleaning crew and a confusing communication I received from the property manager after we finished our stay.
Shortly after we arrived, a cleaning crew knocked on the door to check in and see if we had any concerns with the cleanliness of the place. We had not actually even been through the entire place yet, so we asked if they had cleaned it and welcomed them to clean if they had not done so. They told us they donât track whether a cleaning crew had been through a location to clean, so they didnât know, but they declined our invitation to do so at this point and said if we thought everything was fine, they would depart.
Later that day, we noticed that the upstairs bathroom was very dirty and that there were dirty towels left there from a previous guest. Further inspection suggested that perhaps the location had not been cleaned at all (dust, etc.), though it wasnât in bad shape by any means. In any case, we called the managers and requested that they come clean since it had apparently not been done, and they promised to send someone the following day. Despite this promise, no one ever came, and we didnât pester them because we did some clean-up ourselves and it wasnât a big deal.
After a perfectly nice stay, I received a voicemail and email from the management company that we had left the place in too dirty a state and they were going to charge my credit card for a cleaning fee. I called back to object, explaining both that I thought we had cleaned up well but noting that they had never cleaned from the prior guests before we got there. The manager representative told me that she believed we had given the cleaning crew a âhard timeâ when we arrived, which I found a little bit offensive but was also not true. In any case, she told me she would send me photos of the location from the cleaning crew to support additional cleaning charges and that we could then have a follow-up call.
Four days later, I have not received any photos and my credit card has not yet been charged.
In sum, it doesnât seem like they have the best communication practices or cleaning crew, but we really did have a nice stay.
Great stay. Steps from beach and board walk. Parking for two cars was nice since its hard to park in the area. Short walk to "downtown" area. Open floor plan is great for groups.
So much to say:
No WiFi. Dangerous stairs ( one guest fell/slipped on loose runner.) Lawn was sprayed with chemicals in the only area of the yard that the dog could use. Occasional hot water for showers. ( No TP in the House when we arrived). The clocks were behind and hour and we were attempting to âunplugâ - so we were late for an event the first day. Many outlets/ light switches didnât work. Could not use the back deck on the second floor - âsoftâ/wet area - unsafe. No lawn chairs on the front deck.
Minimal kitchen pots/ pans. No ice (the ice maker on fridge did not work - couldnât even get ice for the woman who fell on the stairs! )
No instructions on how to lock the door when leaving. Iâm sure thereâs things Iâm missing - but this list is a good start. Hard to relax and enjoy when there are soo many frustrations.
