Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our hotel. We apologize for failing to exceed your expectations. We have been operating the hotel since April 2013. Since then, we have replaced 10,000 sq/feet of flat roof, 100% of the sink and bathtub drains and faucets. We have also installed curved shower bar in every bathroom. We have also replaced 100% of the bed base and mattresses. We have also upgraded our Internet infrastructure to ensure a guest would have at least 80% signal anywhere in the hotel including the parking lot. We have also renovated every room with new lights, 40" LED TV with HD channels, new bathroom door and frame and new higher toilets. We have also replaced 100% of the furniture in every room. We have also finished a big masonry project to update the exterior of the hotel. We have painted the exterior of the hotel and finished replacing carpet with hard floor in 100% of the rooms. In addition, we have also finished paving the parking lot In October 2018. We are proud of the improvements we have made to the hotel in a such short time; however, we are not finished yet. I am confident that we will be able to keep improving the overall condition of the rooms to meet expectations from our guest. Again, our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for your valuable feedback.

We have finished paving the parking lot In October 2018 but unfortunately due to the infrastructure of the building we are not able to accommodate bigger vehicles. Dirtier when I left the room than when I arrived

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Clean the carpet between shampoos with a dry cleaner (google it) and Shampoo more than once every three months. Replace couch, curtains and carpet.
Location: Must do Wasena City Tap Room.(try beer flights), Jack Brown's Burgers and Beer, Black Dog Salvage, Star, Hotel Roanoke and City Center!
We pulled up passing a homeless guy. We decided to go inside, instead of the security window. Got our key. Check in was good. Noticed the breakfast area is smaller than pictures make it seem. Went into a dated entry way and noticed the stained carpet and stale smell. Bed and tables are newer. Sofa old and dirty. Checked sheets and they were fresh with fold lines in them. Bathroom and sink area was clean looking. Didn't feel safe leaving belongings in room so went to dinner and came back in with belongings. Walked around for a few minutes with socks on and saw they were black. On closer inspection the carpet was not stained, it was filthy. Edges separated from walls had dirt in them. I was already dirty and it was late so we stayed. There were Finger prints on headboard and night stands. I wiped everything down before I put anything on the surfaces and did not feel safe using the Internet. Upon checking out I tried showing the owner. He told me they shampoo the carpets every 3 months but during rainy times they can't because it will form mold so they have missed that. He proceeded to tell me he lets his 3 year old run around in the rooms so they are clean. He also showed me the tile flooring they are planning on switching to. Who wants to stay at a hotel with tile floors throughout. If you look at my pictures you will see that I am not exaggerating.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us during your recent trip. We are sorry to hear that we were not able to meet your expectation for your stay. The management of the Econo Lodge Civic Center was changed in April 2013. Since we decided to improve the hotel from inside first, we'll be concentrating on the exterior of the hotel. Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us.

Cons: Management needs to be trained in customer service and housekeeping/maintenance needs to address major issues in rooms.
Quick stop on a long trip. The hotel manager contacted me asking me to cancel my reservation with Travelocity so they did not have to pay the fees and would in turn pass that savings along to me. I obviously did not do so because I feel that what he asked me to do was not morally right. After arrival at approx 11pm and looking into the rooms, the non-smoking room on one side stunk like someone has been smoking in there. The one smoking room that we did get (right next to the non-smoking) had the lights burnt out in the bathroom, no handles on any of the dresser drawers, the additional security lock on the door was broken off. The other non-smoking room we got was fine with no problems or issues. The breakfast area is small, only able to seat 8 people at a time. Our group consisted of 12 people, so in order to not clog the entire area, my husband went to the lobby to grab a couple pastries for our kids. The manager was extremely rude and told him that he was not allowed to take the food back to his room. Afterwards, we saw multiple people taking food back to their rooms. When I told the manager about the issues with the room his response was that the top lock really did not provide any additional security and that they would have come right away to fix the light. I was not willing to have a stranger into our room that late at night, with sleeping children. Management at this hotel is horrible.

Dear Guest, I'm sorry that we were not able to meet your expectation. We have taken your feedback to heart and we'll be working even harder. Econo Lodge Civic Center has change management in April 2013. we are constantly working hard to improve the hotel. Since April, we have replaced 100% of the old toilets with new dual flush toilets, 42% of the AC units from 8000 BTU to 12000 BUT, 34% of fridge and microwave. We have also installed curved shower bar in 100% of rooms. Every bathroom has been re-caulked and each bathtub has been fitted with a anti-slip mat. Each bathtub and sink has a new drain. We are also replaced 100% of the sink faucets. We have also replaced our roof which has taken a lot of time and financial resources. We have also upgraded the entire infrastructure of the guest Wi-Fi in November 2014. We have also replaced bed bases/frames and mattresses in each room in January 2015. In addition, we have renovated 100% rooms completely which has 40" flat screen TV. We are also replacing all of the light fixtures, vanity mirror, bathroom door & frame as well during the renovation. We have replaced all of the furniture withing last week. We are proud of the improvements we have made to the hotel in a such short time; however we are not finished yet. I am confident that we will be able to keep improving the overall condition of the rooms to meet expectations from our guest.

Inexpensive, clean, and convenient

Easy to get to, close to the airport and downtown, and good "bang for the buck". My room with clean and didn't smell musty. The rooms are worn, dated, and my ceiling had more than one water stain --but the price was right

Surprisingly nice!

I've stayed in a lot of motels in this price range, of varying quality, over the past month and this is one of the cleaner I've stayed in. No bugs, recently renovated, new bedspreads. From my understanding, they have newer management. The man and woman who run this place were really friendly and accommodating, and even switched us to double bed room when we asked last minute. Its definitely not deluxe, but it was clean, not sketchy, and the best price for the area.

OK

Pros: close to civic center
We needed ground floor, but was told all non-smoking was 2nd floor. This didn't seem to be true. Room smelled lightly smoky, but this is not hotels fault, it is the jerks who smoke in these rooms. OK motel for the money. Roanoke has high room rates.

never again!

We were very unpleasantly surprised by a cockroach on the end table next to the bed. This was the morning we were checking out. If we had seen it the night before I don't think we could have slept there, if we had been able to get another room, that is. The night we stayed was the weekend of graduation at VA Tech and no other rooms were available in the entire area. You can believe we won't be staying there ever again!

ECONO LODGE CIVIC CENTER

The room was clean and it was cleaned each day. The problem was that two different mornings around 2:00 am. the phone rang and woke us up. When we tried to find out about it the manager because of the language barrier could not help us. The breakfast consisted of bagels, small pastries, juice and no decafinated coffee and was the same each morning. We chose this hotel because of the reviews that had been posted on this web site. We would not recommend this motel.
