Charming Andaluz holiday home with big pool near Ronda

A delightful luxury country villa within the grounds of a 200 year old Andaluz farmstead Casa Abuela is an exquisite high specification 2 bed 2 bathroom self-catering holiday let (sleeps max 4 adults +1 child). The self-contained holiday accommodation is set in 8 acres of private arable land. The exceptionally large 15 x 6 m pool is fully fenced, landscaped and private to the whole estate. This family friendly holiday home is tastefully decorated to a Moorish theme. Casa Abuela has been especially designed for wheelchair access. This unique letting is very comfortable, has all the mod-cons including central heating and is available all year around.
Please note that Finca Retama farmstead has a second rental property, a 3 bed 2 bath farmhouse apartment, and therefore some of the facilities are shared with the guests and the owners. (The apartment is the top half of the farmhouse and the owners occupy the bottom half.)
Being of exceptionally high build quality and tastefully furnished throughout this two bedroom two bathroom villa has been designed for comfort and alfresco living: two sets of teak French doors open out onto the spacious and willow-shaded terrace which itself abuts the magnificent fully-fenced and landscaped 15x6 metre swimming pool. A hedge of mature pink roses provides privacy along the length of the terrace. There is natural slate underfoot and ornamental trees and hanging baskets to compliment the ambience.

Inside the owners have gone to considerable lengths to combine luxury with practicality. Villa Casa Abuela exudes Moorish charm after a trip to the souks of Rabat and Fez yielded intricate hand-woven flat-weave rugs; ceramic bowls; sinks and tiles; original artwork; glass lamps and much more besides.

The finest ‘Kashmir Gold’ granite surfaces the kitchen work areas below which all modern and new conveniences are housed. It is fully equipped with a 4 ring hob, separate oven, fridge and freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster and kettle, and all the usual plates, pans and utensils expected of an up-market self-catering holiday let.

The generously-proportioned dining/relaxation area offers a cool respite from the hot Andalusian summers with comfortable sofas, hardwood furniture and inspired artistic touches.

The principal bedroom has a kingsize bed and it opens out onto the terrace through huge teak French doors and its over-sized en-suite wet room is partially tiled with small turquoise glass tiles (‘grasite’). There is a wide shower-head, sturdy handrails and a flip down seat
ideal for disabled clients.

In the second double bedroom the beds can easily be joined to a kingsize bed if required and, again, there is plenty of wardrobe space.

The second bathroom (next door to the second bedroom) serves the whole casita. The extra-wide bath has a shower attachment and is fully tiled.

In the sitting-room there are a couple of sofas and a flat screen TV with British and Spanish channels and also a DVD player.

Outside:
Set in 8 acres of private arable land, Finca Retama Farmstead is abundant with apple, pear, quince, plum, peach, fig, and walnut trees.

On the south and east sides of the rental villa is a perfect alfresco dining terrace where a BBQ set is provided under the spacious and willow-shaded terrace which itself abuts the magnificent fully-fenced and landscaped 15x6 metre swimming pool. A hedge of mature pink roses provides privacy along the length of the terrace. There is natural slate underfoot and ornamental trees and hanging baskets compliment the ambiance.

The exceptionally large 15m pool is fully fenced, landscaped and private to the whole estate and is shared. Both luxury self-catering vacation rentals are tastefully decorated to a Moorish theme with plenty of Berber rugs, high quality hardwood furniture and fittings. Casa Abuela has been especially designed for wheelchair access.

This unique and spacious letting is very comfortable, has all the mod-cons (including central heating) and is available all year around.
Although the Fincaretama Farmstead is nestled in a bucolic valley in the countryside it is only a ten minute drive from the fabulous town of Ronda and the charming white Andalusian villages scattered all around. With three Natural Parks on their doorstep, our rentals make an ideal base for a wide variety of activities including horse-riding, nature walking, rock climbing, mountain – biking, bird watching, caving
and much more besides. In fact you could not choose a more central location from which to enjoy sightseeing in the famous Andalucian cities of Cordoba, Granada, Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Malaga. Also, not too far away, are the coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol and the unspoilt sandy beaches of the Costa de la Luz.

You will find that, as the owners occupy the other half of Finca Retama farmhouse, they will be able to offer advice and information as well as being on hand to deal with any problems that may arise. The owners are discreet about using the pool whilst the holiday lets are occupied.

In fact you could not choose a more central location from which to enjoy sightseeing in the famous Andalucian cities of Cordoba, Granada, Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Malaga. Also, not too far away, are the coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol and the unspoilt sandy beaches of the Costa de la Luz.

Perfecto para desconectar

El lugar es ideal para desconectar unos días. Muy tranquilo y confortable. Bien equipado. La piscina estupenda con ducha, tumbonas y zona de césped muy amplia. Los dueños muy amables y disponibles ante cualquier cuestión. Volveremos si tenemos ocasión.

Perfect Stay Near Ronda

Our time at Finca Retama was magical. The guest house was even better than described and the hosts, Nick and Julia, were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The property was lovingly maintained. Roses bloomed everywhere, the pool was crystal clear and inviting, and the house was perfectly and tastefully appointed. There were so many thoughtful details: Julia had bottled water, wine and basics for us in the kitchen; linens were crisp and clean and of very high quality; Nick built the house, and the teak windows and gorgeous tiles were carefully selected and beautifully installed. It was like staying in a friend's lovely home. We were given complete privacy and full use of the yard and pool, but also got to interact with our hosts when we wanted to. We tapped into Nick's and Julia's local knowledge - they provided useful recommendations for day trips, special locally-made products to take home as gifts, and wonderful nearby restaurants. They even joined us at one of them. Julia gave us a map and pointed out their favorite tapas spots in Ronda and even suggested where to park and buy groceries while in town. If you're going to use this as a base for touring the white hill towns, as we did, we suggest you rent a small SUV, as one of the roads was a little challenging. We wish we could have spent even more time at Finca Retama, and would certainly return. Staying there felt personal and real and was the perfect way to experience Andalucia in a tranquil and lovely environment.

A wonderful place- perfect for a family holiday

Had the most relaxing week at Casa Abuela, the house was fully equipped with everything we could need, comfy beds and a cot, high chair and box of toys for our daughter. The pool was amazing and we spent much of our time relaxing there. It was clean, with good sun-loungers and plenty of shade throughout the day. The owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome with lots of advice about the local area. A wonderful holiday- thank you!
