Cozy Stay Near Brevard: Hot Tub & Creek Views

Enjoy the magic of this cottage nestled at the base of a hillside along a gorgeous creek. Feel the history that comes with this cottage and helps everyone feel at home. It was built and settled 80 years ago by a family who used its spring to supply water for the surrounding neighbors. It has a old home feel, smell and atmosphere

Wade in the bold creek that winds through our five-and-one-half acre property; play a game of tetherball or badminton in the large open field, or just relax inside by the fireplace. Enjoy sitting in the hot tub. Invite family and pack tents for the large grassy yard in the front.

You can take a five minute drive to view a beautiful waterfall, or swing by the creek and listen to it running swiftly by. The cottage is an easy 15-30 minute drive to many local attractions, including waterfalls, lakes, golf courses and gorgeous blue ridge mountain drives. Namely DuPont, Pisagah National Forest, Sassafras Observatory, and Gorges State Park. Enjoy the peace and serenity that comes with this hidden jewel. It’s historic feel will make you want to stay.

The privacy this place offers is something that makes it very unique. Five acres to spread out and explore is a large area for a family. Wadding in the creek to cool off in the warm months is something that you do not get just anywhere.

Great home, needs better cleaning

We had a weekend family stay. Unfortunately, the dishwasher was broken and overfull of dirty and smelly dishes. There was loads of trash under beds and the few towels that were clean actually smelled so bad when used. That said, the owner did refund our cleaning fee, when asked. It appears the dishwasher has been out of commission a while, it would have been helpful to know and we would have brought disposable goods.The property itself is lovely and my kids enjoyed exploring around the creek and playing outdoor tennis table. The home is rustic and charming and with some better cleaning would be a top notch property.

Neglected Property, Owner Didn't Address Problems

A potentially great place, neglected. Website description is false & misleading in significant ways; photos aren’t current. We felt lied to about property condition. During our stay Abbie did nothing when we texted her about 2 issues less than 24 hrs. after arrival. 1) We had concern of visible mold at air vent in queen bedroom. Abbie just thanked us for info. 2) Abbie apologized when told dishwasher was missing top rack & didn’t work. No one came to repair it. No reimbursement offered for our extra expense (purchasing dish soap, paper products) & inconvenience (time washing dishes). Day before we left, Abbie sent email with checkout instructions. 1st one: Load items & start dishwasher. Really? 3) Much in description, photos, & list of amenities needs attention. Murky “trout” pond has no live fish. Very unpleasant odor in outdoor hot tub area from rotting fish food bags in shed. The 2 plastic kayaks hold 130 lb. max weight: unusable for many teens & adults. Porch rocking chairs & wind chimes are broken. Overgrown bushes obstruct porch view. Picnic table, benches, & chairs near fire pit are rotting, mossy, broken. Significant undergrowth makes creek access difficult. Swing frame near creek has no swing. WELCOME folder has lots of marked-thru info, with other info penned in, but isn’t current & names different owners. It recommends a beautiful private waterfall nearby, says waterfall’s owners permit public to view it, but we found NO TRESPASSING signs.Games missing pieces, etc.

Breathtaking property!!

This property is honestly just beautiful!! I absolutely LOVED the creek that ran through the property!!! I had my 19 y/o daughter, her boyfriend and my 9 y/o son with me, this property had something for them all to do!! We played ping pong and tetherball several times a day. The first two nights we grilled hotdogs and then made s’mores that the host had set out for us upon arrival, I enjoyed the fire right by the creek, it was so peaceful!! I enjoyed going out and finding several waterfalls not far from the location. Across the creek is a Glamping site, we will also be booking those at some point! The house itself was cozy and had plenty of space, my favorite part was the reading book! The kids LOVED the hot tube! It also is a 10-15 drive to Sassafras Mountain, where you can see 3 states and had a beautiful sunset!! The host

Rough Start - Shady Hosts

The property is perfectly located and lovely for a relaxing outdoors vacation. The outdoor space was exactly right for what we needed. We won't be back, though, and I caution you against staying. This host was the worst I've ever had through VRBO or others. We arrived for our check in, the place was dirty from the last guests - it had never been checked/seen/cared for since. The host told us to go into town for the night and find a place to chill. We lost our first day at this place and the host could not be bothered to answer their phone or call me back. They said the only way they would make it right is if we booked a second vacation with them and they'd discount us a night. Think about that: they royally messed up and refused to do anything about it unless we gave them even more money. Worst hosts. They are no where to be found, and the games, fishing pond, and fun perks are no where near what is posted. The pond has no fish at all (and hasn't for a while, which they know yet still post in the listing), the gaming equipment is missing or broken, including all tv remotes, and we hand to find most things by scouring the yards, bushes, fields, and old sheds. The hosts did nothing at all to make this place welcoming for us or apologize properly for selling us short. I must say, though, that the local people they've hired for yard work, house cleaning, and hot tub service are exceptional at what they do and very kind folks. In the hands of better hosts, I'd book here yearly.

Best VRBO experience

The cabin was so perfect from the very beginning. Abbie was quick to communicate and respond. The cabin was clean and had all the eminities needed for a perfect weekend getaway. After running the 6 hour Firefly trail run, the hot tub was the answer to sore muscles. The ping pong table was everyone's favorite and we played for hours. We will be back again! Thank you Abbie!

Wonderful stay on the river!

We had so much fun playing on the property! We used the kayaks in the river, played ping pong, went in the hot tub each night and watched an outdoor movie. We ate most our meals at the cottage, but enjoyed the Forks of the River taproom just down the road for a beer by the river. All the family friendly waterfall hikes were not too far of a drive and were stunning! We had a lot of great family time together and would come back!

Great Cabin

Wonderful!

Wonderful rental property, the boys loved being able to fish right outside! The road leading in is a true mountain road- lots of twists and turns! Small store just a few miles away. Beautiful and quiet! We loved it.

Quaint and Quiet

We loved this property. There's clearly great history here. The property is lovely, close to town, but tucked away enough that it is very peaceful. Our puppy loved running around the yard and pond. Our teenagers and we LOVED the ping pong! Would love to visit again.

Best Family Getaway

Our family of 9 had such a fun long weekend here and our kids have been begging to go back since! We spent the majority of our stay outside and loved all the property had to offer. Our kids love to fish and we couldn't keep them out of the creek. The house fit us very easily and we were pleased with how well itnwas stocked. We will definitely be back!!

Christmas at the cabin

We enjoyed our stay at cabin. It was very rustic and cozy. The only con was I found an empty water on floor in guest room and a couple used q-tips on floor. The heat was off when we arrived and it was very cold in house. Enjoyed the gas fireplace and we enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub

Cozy, relaxing family weekend

This cottage is just what our family needed for a cozy, relaxing post-Thanksgiving getaway. We chilled in the hot tub, cooked out on the firepit, play board games on the day bed, explored the small creek, and curled up and watched movies. The kitchen had everything we needed for a few days of cooking. And the smores ingredients the host leaves out was a special touch. Will definitely be back.
