Just what I wanted: an old hotel with a bit of character and a warm welcome. Bathroom was a bit ‘tired’ but clean with soft towels. Comfy bed, warm room, enough storage for a short stay. Actual keys on a big wooden fob instead of horrid plastic cards that stop working was appreciated. Had to ask for a hairdryer but wasn’t a problem.

On arrival reception door was locked and signed to enter through bar area but not clearly signed so had to ask man behind bar where to go. Once at reception was waiting 5 minutes for staff to arrive and another man was waiting already so don’t know how long he had been waiting. This was the only fault but didn’t give good first impression!
