The Neighborhood:

Millar's Hideaway sits in the peaceful lakeside settlement of Lake Ōkareka, one of Rotorua's prettiest small lakes. Boyes Beach is a 400m stroll away, ideal for a swim or simply soaking up the views, and the immediate neighbourhood is quiet and relaxed. You're wonderfully placed for the outdoors, with Blue Lake (Tikitapu) about 5 minutes away and the Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest around 10, while central Rotorua and its restaurants, shops and geothermal attractions are a 13 to 15 minute drive.



Getting Around:

A car is recommended out here, as public transport is limited, and there's an internal-access garage plus free street parking. By car, Blue Lake is about 5 minutes away, the Redwoods around 10, Te Puia and the city centre 13 to 15, and Polynesian Spa and Rotorua Airport about 15. Skyline, Zorb and Rotorua Canopy Tours are all roughly 22 to 23 minutes.



Other Things to Note:

WIFI runs at around 495 Mbps. This is a sunny single-level home set up for two, so it's a lovely quiet base for a couple. It sits by Lake Ōkareka with Boyes Beach a short walk away - please keep an eye on any little ones near the water.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay, the location, outlook and presentation of the home was all beautiful. So close to Rotorua, Redwoods and activities. We loved our stay and would love to return again, horse riding, MTB and relaxing, amazing!

Appreciated the garage, especially for rainy times. Great layout for 2 guests with wonderful views. Two minor issues were that the oven/stove control dials were unreadable so we were not sure what temperatures were being set; and Kleenex tissues were not supplied. We would definitely recommend to others or return ourselves to this charming location!

Loved the place, has everything you need for a relaxing stay and more. Found the large garage very useful to keep the boat ready for an early morning fishing trip. We will be back for sure.

A lovely retreat

Millar's Hideaway is a super place! Clean, bright, surrounded by beautiful grounds and in a quiet neighborhood. Our neighborhood walks and the longer walks around the lake were both excellent.And while it's a mountain lake retreat home, it's also super convenient to Rotorua. Highly recommended!

Perfect location close to lake

This was a beautiful location overlooking Lake Okareka, with a quiet beach just a couple of hundred metres away. A place to relax and explore, a short drive from Rotorua but without the smell and the crowds! The only fault was illegible oven dials (looked up online) and a personal dislike of the rather orange floor….. but that didn’t detract from a very nice and comfortable stay.

A most delightful 8 night Getaway. Heating was very adequate for a winter stayover, bed was very warm and comfortable, Loved the luxrious throws. Comfortable seating.
