Located in the department of Hautes-Alpes, Saint-Chaffrey is one of the four municipalities of the resort of Serre Chevalier Vallée. Composed of the villages of Saint-Chaffrey, Chantemerle, Villard-Laté and La Gérarde, the town borders Briançon. It is located at 1365 meters in the valley of the Guisane.
