I will never use VRBO again. My family and I had a horrible, stressful experience. Two hours before the arrive at our already paid for house, the owner called me to tell me that the house was not available until 8 PM. He later let me know the house would not be available at all that evening but that he had another house to offer for the evening. I took that offer to stay at that different house because I had small children and needed to have a place to stay. This new house did not have enough beds for my entire family, so my husband and I had to stay at a hotel. The next day, the owner told me that the original house I booked would not be available to me for a second night. The third day, the owner said the original house would not be available until 5:00 PM. We had a family reunion to be at that evening and one of the reasons I wanted the original house was because it was close by the family reunion. We took occupancy of the original house and once we started to prepare a meal in the kitchen, the kitchen sink sprung a leak. I called the management company and they said they would send a plumber right away but after two hours he never arrived at the house. We figured out how to stop the leak but we could now longer prepare meals in the kitchen. The house had a large roach walk across an upstairs bedroom and the steps we're loose and a piece of the stairs fell off when I walked upon it.It was a nightmare. I asked for a refund and was offered a 30% refund. That's it.
Good:The place is a good size, could accommodate us (2 adults 3 kids) well and is in a quiet neighborhood. Has granite counter tops in the kitchen and a big bath in the Master bath. There's a washer and drier and dishwasher (which we didn't use.) Shampoo and conditioner were also supplied.Bad:There were minimal kitchen supplies - such as plates and bowls, wine glasses and coffee mugs, but no glasses for drinking. It felt very sparse. The TV upstairs didn't connect to any device and several of the cupboard doors or drawers were either hanging off or broken. There were spare parts building supplies (tiles, unhung pictures etc. hiding in the closets and only one spare trash bag. Toilet paper was also minimal. The pictures in the ads showed a piano (one of our selling points), and swing chair... that were not in the house. Additionally, the biggest surprise, it wasn't until after we were sent the instructions of how to check in that we found that the much promoted pool would incur a 200 use fee. So, beware of that if you plan on using the pool. The Ugly:Bugs. OK, it's Texas but there were ants all over the downstairs tub, in the kitchen and several hornets high up in the entryway that took us 3 days to get rid of. There was no bug spray in the house (there is now as we left the supply we bought for the next tenants). We had to clean out spider webs, and spiders on our first couple of days too.)Overall, it's a simple fix for these things and this could be a good spot.
