3 bed and 3 bath - ocean front in Ocean Beach
Enjoy this modern home built in 2015. It has a kitchen/great room that opens up to a spacious balcony overlooking the beach and the city park, or walk out the door to put your feet in the sand and the water! Rumor has it that surfing was first introduced to San Diego in 1916 at this exact location. So bring your surfboards and boogie boards and give it a try. Or bring your dog, since Ocean Beach is also home to the Original Dog Beach where people and pets, beach lovers and surfers celebrate one of Southern California's last true beach towns. Let your four-legged friend run and play leash-free in the sand and surf.
In addition to its beachside location, across the street and around the corner on Newport Avenue you will find dozens of small and independent restaurants, bars, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, and boutiques to satisfy all of your food and shopping cravings.
Be sure to check out the municipal pier, nationally famous burger joint Hodad;s, and if you are lucky enough to be here on a Wednesday (year round), enjoy the Farmer's Market which features locally grown produce, artisan products, food vendors & live music. Other popular events include the OB Kite Festival in May, the famous Street Fair & Chili Cook-off in June, the Fourth of July Drone Light Show, the Sunset Cliffs Car Show in September, OB Oktoberfest, and the Holiday Parade in December. If you are really lucky, perhaps you will see some of the âParrots of Ocean Beachâ, which is a flock of an estimated 200 to 300 wild parrots who make the Ocean Beach neighborhood their home..
Ocean Beach is a short drive from Sea World, Belmont Amusement Park, Little Italy, and many other San Diego attractions when you are ready to take a break from the beach.
Other amenities include indoor, secure parking and lifeguards on duty at the beach during the summer season.
It was nice, host interactions were great however I would recommend having a mop in the kitchen, extra pans for cooking and when we were there it was raining . We did have a coffee outside while cloudy it was great. The check in is at 3:00 pm and check out was at 10 am we thought it was to rushed when other places the check out is 11and even 12
Property is good, surrounding population not so good
The unit was nice and looked mostly as advertised. There were far more homeless people than I was expecting, however there was a lot of police presence, and they did keep the park and beach clean. Just didn't feel comfortable letting the kids go anywhere without us. The elevator did not work on the first day and was a problem for my elderly father-in-law since there are a lot of stairs to get to the 3rd floor. We had plans to basically relax and enjoy the view from the patio, however keep in mind there is no patio umbrella and the patio table was gross and "bubbly" weathered so couldn't enjoy eating dinner or playing games on the patio. When we sat outside we had to keep moving the couch to find shade until there was no more shade so we had to plan our days around having to avoid the full sun. The neighbors below us said their unit (with the same mgmt company) came with an umbrella but when I inquired I got an email response saying they probably brought their own. Who packs a patio umbrella when they go on vacation?? Also found out the microwave did not work but this wasn't until the last day so didn't bother saying anything. Plus side, there were a lot of restaurants in walking distance.
Very happy with our stay. Great patio facing the beach. We were given a door code that did not work. Called CS, new code worked. Fast internet. Could not find coffee maker. Brought our own. Be aware this condo is directly under the flight path for San Diego Airport. You will have planes flying over from 7am to 11pm. Quiet hours after 11pm, an occasional plane after that. Noise is noticable but not that bad.
The place itself is beautiful, exactly as the pictures show. The neighborhood itself is very sketchy. Homeless people on both sides living there. We tried eating dinner with our kids on the patio and could not due to the profanity, smell and overall atmosphere of the homeless people directly next to us. We had no privacy. I would not recommend this to a family with children.
The location is perfect. The sand/water are just outside the door. Multiple restaurant choices are within easy walking distance. We liked the vibe of Ocean Beach versus either Mission or Pacific Beach, which we've stayed at on previous trips. Easy to get to and from the airport and other San Diego attractions. We had 2 dogs with us and loved having Dog Beach within an easy walk. Access to the property was easy, as long as you remember the number codes. Parking for 2 vehicles. We would go back again!!
