I love Hotel Nikko. I have stayed there many times. This is also not a Nikko issue; it is a city issue. But the tenderloin and Market Street areas are not what they used to be, and it takes away from a full, wonderful experience to have to make your way through the number of homeless and drug addicted people. Maybe the solution is working with other hotels or agencies in that zip code or codes, and the city to rebuild that area, incentivize new opportunities, but of course, take care of those that need help and support (mental health, drug abuse, financial, etc.)

Apple Navigation takes you to the wrong side of the block. So we kept circling on one-way streets for a while looking for it, when we arrived close to midnight. After we found it, everything was nice. We had a great view of the Pride Month Laser display.

Hotel Nikko

Our stay was nice. It is a very clean hotel. The area is fine as long as you don't walk the wrong way. Then you are in wrong area about a block away The hotel also charges about $46 per night for an amenity fee. I must've missed that when I booked. They also charge $75 a night for parking. Plus, they hold a charge for a deposit of $125 per night. So for 5 nights your deposit they hold would be $625. The hotel is beautiful and staff very nice. I would not stay again because i don't like all the added fees but the hotel is beautiful and everything was great.

The hotel is beautiful, modern and the staff were all incredibly friendly. It has everything you need if you don’t feel like getting out with restaurants, pool and rooftop area to lounge around. Location was great for us to quickly catch an Uber to all of the local tourist areas.

Serene Stay – a Few Things We Wish We Knew

The staff at Nikko truly goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued. Their warm hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights of our stay was the pool, which was open from 6 AM to 10 PM, allowing us ample time to relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring. The rooms were thoughtfully designed with a modern touch, featuring calming colors that created a serene atmosphere. We appreciated the inviting aesthetics, which made our stay even more enjoyable. However, there were a few details we wish we had known in advance. For instance, there is an amenity fee, a tourism tax, and a BDA fee that were not initially communicated to us. Additionally, it was surprising to find that our SUV, which we considered to be on the smaller side—smaller than a RAV4—was classified as an oversize vehicle; instead of paying $75 to park our car overnight, we ended up paying $85. Upon our arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by staff members who offered us complimentary beverages, which added a nice personal touch to our experience. Overall, our stay at Nikko was memorable, and the attention to detail truly enhanced our visit.

The service from the Nikko staff was excellent! Everyone was so friendly, professional and we felt welcomed & appreciated. The hotel is lovely and I had no issues with the hotel. But I will say - one street over (O'Farrell) is scary (drug & mental health related homelessness). The hotel did have security at the doors at night and key access was required to get in. I felt safe in the hotel.
