Perfect place to stay when visiting San Jose

The place was perfect for what we needed. The location was far enough away from the busy city center to not feel surrounded by all the crazy busy of the big city, but close enough to catch a quick taxi into all the markets, museums, and attractions.. (I wouldn’t suggest driving in the city center, it’s crazy) The Spirogyra Butterfly Garden was wonderful! The Museum’s were great, and the local Costa Rican restaurants were fabulous! The one by the National Museum, Nuestra Tierra, was a lot of fun and the food was exceptional and authentic local. In the neighborhood you will find almost everything you need all within walking distance. A small grocery store for the little things is just a block away, next to that is a small bakery that sells fresh baked bread, incredible pastries, and an assortment of food for breakfast lunch or dinner, we ate there for all three at some point on various days during our stay. The people at the front desk can help you with almost anything. What more could you ask for while in a big city?

San Jose in May

I’m giving this listing a 5 star rating even there are a couple of things that need tweaking. If this review sounds negative, it really isn’t. Just pointing out a few things that may or may not be important to the next person. The unit was clean, nice with beautiful views and a good location for why I came to San Jose. The initial communication was not what I’m used to when renting through VRBO. The check-in information was not sent to me and took several emails to get the location, unit number and access code. The parking spot number was provided to me by the security guard and also the information later in the week about the gate access. There is a sticker you place on your car for the gate. I did find it in the desk drawer but I’m not really sure it actually works. There is security that will open it for you but may take a bit longer if they are not at the desk. This is a new listing and there may be a learning curve. In the end I was able to check in early as requested and the unit met my expectations. The apartment was roomy, clean and was mostly equipped with all that was needed. Most people on vacation don’t cook as much as I do so the few missing items may or may not matter. I brought a few things that are sometimes missing in kitchens. If you like to cook and/or bake I would I would be sure to bring measuring cups and baking pans as there are none but the cook ware, dishes and utensils are nice. I was prepared with my own stuff however, it was nice to see the apartment had salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, shampoo and conditioner and laundry detergent. You generally don’t see that. Another thing to keep in mind are the common areas. You will need to schedule the pool and gym due to COVID restrictions. Although this is no fault of the owner but needless to say I only spent an hour by the pool due to scheduling and weather. The mattress is not the most comfortable per my preference but okay (very firm). The listing stated that there is laundry on the premise. There a laundry room in the parking garage but I was pleasantly surprised to see a washer/dryer in the unit as it was not clear in the listing. I would definitely rent this unit again if staying in San Jose. And communication won’t be an issues as we got that all worked out. 😀
