The Space:

Mint Suite is the ideal basecamp to explore Old San Juan history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. The suite has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, open layout living area right beside the modern kitchen and dining table. You will love the combination of old-world colonial structural design and amenities such as air conditioning throughout the villa, wifi, TV, and modern yet simple decor.



The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, next to restaurants, a plaza and all that you need to see in this beautiful historic city.



The suite comfortably sleeps 2 adults in the bedroom's king-size bed. The unit is on the 4th floor and the building has an elevator and stairs.

LIVING AREAS



As soon as you enter Mint Suite you are welcomed by the spacious living area that features a comfortable lounge area for 2, a dining table with a state of the art flat-screen TV and a modern kitchen.

 



SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS



Mint Suite has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps 2 adults. The spacious bedroom has a king-size bed, personal side tables, air conditioning, access to a full bathroom and a spacious closet. Best of all features a private balcony! The bedroom has a simple & modern decor with mint and nude tones throughout the suite. It is appointed with fresh linens for a good night's sleep.



PLEASE NOTE: The bedroom TV features a SMART TV, just for the use of apps like (youtube, Netflix, etc)



PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.

 



KITCHEN



Mint Suite has a decent size kitchen, which was just updated with new cabinets and countertops. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. We include enough paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay. 





GETTING AROUND



If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. **This property does not include parking.**



IMPORTANT: If you need to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate. 



 

LOCATION



Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From the property, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment. 

 

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:



Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.

Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.

Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.

Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.

STARTER AMENITIES



At West Indies Vacation Rentals, we strive to provide top-notch amenities, ensuring our guests feel at home during their stay.



All properties come with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach towel per guest.



We provide a set of disposable essentials to help you get your vacation started comfortably. These include:



- 1 set of hotel-size soap and shampoo (per bathroom)

- 3 garbage bags

- 1 roll of paper towels

- 2 rolls of toilet paper (per bathroom)

- 1 dish soap

- 1 dish sponge



Please note that we do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is the guest’s responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock any additional items needed for the duration of the stay.



Most properties also include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler. You may reach out to us 5 days before arrival for confirmation.





HOUSE RULES



RENTAL AGREEMENT: All bookings require a signed Short-Term Rental Agreement, which will be sent upon confirmation of your reservation. Guests must upload a valid photo ID (no selfies) that matches the name on the credit card used for the booking. The agreement must be signed within 48 hours of booking or prior to entering the property, whichever comes first. Check-in instructions will not be provided until the agreement is completed.



NO SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. A $500 smoking fee will be charged if this rule is violated.



NO PETS: While we are pet lovers, pets are not permitted at the property at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if this rule is violated, and guests may be asked to leave the property.



QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Please be mindful of noise during these hours out of respect for nearby residents/neighbors.



UTILITIES (WATER & ELECTRICITY): In the event of an interruption to water or electrical service, the host is not responsible for hotel, alternate lodging, or transportation expenses. If service is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests may cancel the reservation and request a refund for unused nights only. Nights already used are non-refundable.



MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy is 2 adults/children at all times, including visitors.



OCCUPANCY ENFORCEMENT: Occupancy limits are strictly enforced. Exceeding the maximum occupancy may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation or removal from the property without refund.



TOWELS & LINENS: Towels and linens are provided for normal use only. Please do not use them for cleaning or allow them to be stained with food, grease, or other substances. Charges may apply for damaged or stained items.



TOWEL HANGING: Please do not hang towels or any other items to dry in areas visible from outside the unit. A $100 community fine may apply if this rule is violated.



SUBLETTING: Subletting or re-renting the property is not permitted.





CHECK-IN / CHECK-OUT TIMES



Check-in begins at 4:00 PM, and since this is a self-check-in unit, you can arrive anytime after that.



If you’d like to check in earlier, please contact us the day before your arrival, and we’ll confirm availability. When possible, early check-in typically starts around 11:00 AM. Please note that early check-in is subject to availability and depends on our cleaning schedule.



If you need a guaranteed early check-in, you will need to book from the night prior to ensure the property is ready upon your arrival.



Check-out time is at 11:00 AM. For late check-out requests, please reach out the day before your departure, and we’ll be happy to check availability for you.





TRAVEL INSURANCE / HURRICANE SEASON



We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, not only during the peak months of Hurricane Season (July to October) but also throughout the year to cover unexpected events such as travel delays, pandemics, or other unforeseen issues.



Travel insurance is inexpensive and can reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, coverage will depend on the policy purchased. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase.

The Mint Suite was a wonderful place to stay. It was in the heart of Old San Juan, which allowed for quick Ubers to surrounding places and beaches. The place was clean, the air conditioning worked wonderfully, and you were immersed in the town feel throughout the day.The host recommends you places to park if you rent a car and that was extremely helpful. Overall, a great place to stay for your Puerto Rican vacation. I would 100% stay again.

I did not visit the National Park, but I did enjoy my stay in Old San Juan. The location was perfect for walking to most destinations in OSJ, with several restaurants in close proximity and only a short Lyft ride to the Convention Hall and airport. The pocket park across the street provided a lively range of music and local cultural gatherings that I could hear (if not view) from my balcony.

A Gem in the Heart of Viejo San Juan

My daughter and I stayed at the Mint Suite at the beginning of our trip, and it was truly the perfect start to our journey. Nestled in one of Old San Juan’s beautifully preserved colonial-era buildings—with soaring ceilings, traditional balconies, and rich architectural charm—the suite exceeded every expectation.The apartment was clean, thoughtfully stocked, and more spacious than anticipated. Its location is ideal—right across from an old church and within walking distance to everything. We explored the cobblestone streets, enjoyed the vibrant local cuisine, and took in the rich cultural history of the area, all without needing a car.One of the highlights was the balcony: a peaceful, elevated spot to enjoy morning coffee or breakfast with sweeping views of the city’s iconic skyline. It felt like a private escape above the lively charm of San Juan.While Old San Juan is known for its bustling nightlife, the Mint Suite offers a quiet, restful retreat. Blackout shades and excellent sound insulation ensured we slept soundly each night—something we deeply appreciated after full days of walking and sightseeing.Agatha, our host, was wonderful—responsive, kind, and attentive to every need. Bigger than I thought it would be. Close proximity to good food and night life. Good times, highly recommended. Side note we Ubered into VSJ (parking in garage available but the walk w/ a lot of luggage isn’t the business). We picked up rental upon checkout for second leg of our stay.

Perfect location

Great location could easily walk everywhere. No need to Uber if up for walking to explore beautiful Old San Juan. The bathroom shower leaked water all over the floor while showering and should have a shower curtain to avoid slippery floor.

Bed was comfy, place was clean. Bring your earplugs if on a weekend, but it was overall a quieter street than some. Only thing I'd change is removing glade plug ins for those sensitive to fragrance

Perfect location

We loved stepping outside the door in the middle of Old San Juan. We walked everywhere and Ubered as needed. The apartment was perfect for my husband and I. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evenings. Agatha was very responsive to any questions or needs we had. We will definitely come back!
