This place is perfect to relax and unwind, beautiful Greece like style, a nice swimming beach just next to it, a small breakfast with good choice of fruit and the best ever coffee, Elliot and his team really helpful and welcoming, good drinks in the bar, walking distance to a few restaurants. Loved it.

First off let me say that the staff was wonderful and tried their best but this MOTEL not hotel is horrible. It really is old and worn out, I got the jr ocean front suite and the sofa is worn out and stained. The bed was hard at the sides and the smell! The smell is coming from sea grass and the motel has no control over that and I get it but the cleaning people need to keep the doors and windows closed. It smells like rotten egg and even the towels smell like the outside. I couldn’t stand the smell and asked for a different room, which they gladly changed me to and the staff really tired to be as accommodating as possible but again this MOTEL is NOT worth your money!!! I’m sorry guys but you’re better off at a hostel. When we were changed rooms the shower didn’t work, the water pressure sucked so bad but we tried to make the best out of the whole thing. I would say just don’t stay in San Pedro period because the sea grass is something awful.

Excellent service

The staff was very helpful. They went out of thier way to help me feel welcome and they also gave me tips on how to navigate around San Pedro safely. My room was clean and smelled amazing. The view was absolutely breathe taking. My only complaint is that there should be at least one staff overnight or security. One particular party that was staying at the resort got very loud one night and it lasted into the early morning hours.

Small but comfortable

Pros: Cleanliness, attentive and helpful staff, good price.
Cons: Seaweed was a major problem, maybe some netting could help.
Location: Along the beach, this hotel is close to most diving and fishing facilities. Only a few good restaurants are nearby.
The rooms are small, but have everything needed for your comfort. Everything is very clean and in place. The swimming pool is smaller than it looked in the pictures. The staff is very helpful and do good customer care. The continental breakfast is fresh and has a good variety.

Absolutely Wonderful

I recently stayed at the Mata Rocks Resort and loved my experience. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They will arrange daily excursions for you and even help you order carry out from local restaurants. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location was excellent. If I return to San Pedro, I will stay at the Mata Rocks Resort again.

Spring Break 2015

Cons: I would not change a thing.
Location: I was a little south of downtown San Pedro, a casual walk.
Our experience was excellent!!!! This was our first trip outside the US, my daughter and I went to Belize for spring break week. The hotel staff was fantastic, they did everything possible to make our stay wonderful from the room, arranging trips, to being polite and helpful. The room was top notch and kept very clean. I would stay there again!!!!

Excellent resort!

Pros: Very clean property/friendly and attentive staff.
Cons: NOTHING
Location: The island is small... everything is nearby!
This is my 2nd trip to Belize', San Pedro to be exact. Both times I have stayed at Mata Rocks resort. This is a small resort with 16 rooms and very attentive staff. All you need to do is ask, for anything, and they accommodate. The Squirrel's Nest (beach bar), try the Mata Colada, is on sight right next to the pool and steps from the turquoise, green ocean. Staff will assist in making any arrangements for side trips/scuba/snorkeling/fishing/mainland excursions, you name it! All at comparable prices across the island. Local food within walking distance and if that's not what you want, take a cab to town center, apprx $5. Love the Mata Rocks and wouldn't stay anywhere else!! (Unless of course they are booked up! Then I would just change the dates so I could stay here!!!!!)

Nice Hotel on the beach with a Friendly and Helpful Staff

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Our first time in Belize and would love to go back again. We certainly picked the right places to stay. We started in the Jungle at Ian Andersen's Cave Branch and then spent the last 6 days at Mata Rocks. We would highly recommend Mata Rocks. The rooms were cleaned daily, had a kitchenette, comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. The beach area may is adequate and the beach bar is essential. Most of the guests started and ended their day there and Mata seemed to attract the friendliest people as we all had a great time. The Staff was especially helpful, arranging our snorkeling trips, taxis, Golf Cart rentals and I imagine anything else that you may need. Bicycles are available to sign out and use at no cost. We liked the Golf Carts, a fun way to get around the island.
