There's a restaurant on site. WiFi is free in public spaces. A business center and meeting rooms are available. The business-friendly Sanbay Hotel also features a garden, a front-desk safe, and an elevator.
Smoking is allowed in designated areas at this 3-star Sandakan hotel.
This is an old hotel, it used to be one of the best hotels in Sandakan before.
Now I saw the building itself is outstanding there but I also realized that the quality of their service and maintenance are not perfect anymore because of recession by the pandemic.
One of the reasons why I decided this hotel for staying, the review mentions a " nice breakfast". But they don't have it now.
Regarding amenities like a shampoo and toilet rolls, it requires payment if you get extra. I stayed 2nights 3days, so I was wondering If I should buy some.
These are the things uncomfortable part staying this hote.
However, this hotel fee is cheap and stuffs are friendly. I have no complaints.
No restaurant, furniture old and chipped, very few food options outside the hotel, no WiFi in the room at all . We had to stand in the middle of the corridor or go to the reception area to connect to the WiFi
Clean rooms with huge bathrooms, very quiet â this is the plus
Lingering smoking smell and no food is the minus. We got dinner in the local open air curry house a few minutes walk away. It is a local food place - really good but âvery localâ
All very nice, car parking very easy. Only disappointment for us was hotel evening meals (except Fri and Saturday) were very ordinary. But in saying that there is lots of food places around if you have the time. Breakfast was included in hotel price. It was basic with no fruit.
Had to change rooms 3 times before got one where room safe worked.
There were only 2 cafes nearby , one a malay curry house ,the 2nd we opted for a Chinese cafe in a Malay housing area which was a bit dodgy to get to at night (ghetto)
On plus side the staff were wonderful and tried hard
