The Garden Studio at Half Moon House
Nestled in Savannahâs historic Streetcar District, The Garden Studio at Half Moon House is a private retreat within the city, blending funky, mid-century modern style with a rustic cabin feel. This open-concept space features a kitchenette w/ essentials, an extra-long clawfoot tub w/ hand shower, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a peaceful garden. Set in the historic carriage house behind a 1914 colonial revival home, itâs just minutes from Forsyth Park, Starland, and top restaurants.
We had an amazing stay in this awesome and funky carriage house. It was furnished and decorated beautifully with a beautiful view of the courtyard. It was also extremely spacious and close to so many great attractions in Starland district. We will be back.
We really enjoyed our stay. The decor was very fun and the âcabin vibeâ was really nice but it still had all the amenities as an apartment would so it didnât feel like we were âroughing itâ too much.Do keep in mind thereâs only a bath tub (with a hand held shower nozzle) so that wasnât quite what Iâm use to but itâs easy enough. :)Would stay again!
Amazing accommodation ! The location is perfect. Close to most attractions and within walking distance . The room was very comfortable with a lovely outdoor area . Our communication with Richard was perfect . Overall we could not have been happier . Would highly recommend!
We rented for St Patrickâs day weekend in Savannah and this was a perfect location for walking to the parade and Forsyth Park. Also, walking distance to mid town restaurants and bars in the starland district. It was very clean and nicely decorated/furnished. The owner was very responsive and helpful.
My boyfriend and I stayed at this property to celebrate an anniversary and we were not disappointed. Overall, the property was just as advertised and a very unique place to stay. We enjoyed the restaurants within walking distance of the property and the close proximity to downtown. The place was very artsy and unique, giving a special feel that made the stay feel unique. The only downside to this property is the additional rental property above it, as there are other tenants staying above you in which you can hear their footsteps relatively easily. While we heard the footsteps above us, it didnât really bother us. Overall, we thought you couldnât beat this property for the price!
We love the city of Savannah and glad we stayed here and explored more closely the Victorian district.
Tip to the ownerâŠ.check that the freezer is defrosted before guests arrive and advertise more as good for short weekend stays due to the bathing accommodations. Would be better to design a bathroom similar to the unit upstairs and have a more fully handicap accessible apartment to offer..
The cabin apartment is very bright and cheerful. The yard is lovely, with trees and bushes full of birds. We really loved the neighborhood, outside the main bustle of the Historic District but centrally located so you can get anywhere. Besides, the Thomas Square/Forsyth Park area has attractions enough of its own. You'll enjoy using the nice bikes Richard has available: a great way to experience the city!
We greatly enjoyed our stayed! It was perfect for our long weekend! Mr. Richard was very kind and made great suggestions that we used throughout our stay. We look forward to staying here again in the future!
This was exactly what I expected based on the property description and reviews. Richard, the owner and host, went above and beyond to make our short stay in Savannah a memorable experience! Inside, we found light snacks and beverages, and he had notebooks and magazines on the table with helpful information about restaurants and activities in Savannah. The courtyard area was an ideal area for our pups to be off leash and play under supervision. The bed was very comfortable, and a nice soak in the clawfoot bathtub felt great after exploring the city.
Loved our time here so much! Richard was wonderful to work with and thought of every little detail to make you feel right at home. The location was perfect and an easy 10 minute bike ride to downtown.
The carriage house was the coolest little place. Loved the big open windows overlooking the beautiful courtyard. It was so great having our dogs with us, as they too enjoyed the big windows and courtyard.
We will definitely be back! One of our favorite stays for sure!
Literally the single best Verbo/airbnb I've ever rented
This was, without a doubt, the single most pleasant vacation experience I've booked. Honestly, it's been better than most hotels I've stayed at. Richard played both host and concierge, greeting us and giving us booklets with info, maps around the neighborhood, and tons of recommendations of where to eat.
Then there were the treats! Four fresh yogurts in the fridge, along with almond milk and a small half and half. Sodas, tea, coffee, granola, a very fancy chocolate bar. There was a little bath bomb on the bathtub, tons of whole foods fancy soaps and shampoos. Forgot your razor? There's a basket full under the sink. Makeup remover? Richard's got you there too. A book to read? You want Tolkien? O'Conner? In stock. Netflix? Already loaded up. Fresh ranunculus flowers floating elegantly in water? On the goddamn table.
The whole place was stunning. Not to mention the wall of windows that looks out into such an idyllic garden. It's a prime location, right in the heart of the Victorian district, and such a great deal.
My boyfriend and I will absolutely be back!
Absolutely LOVED our stay! The place is absolutely perfect and the owner is so accommodating!
Absolutely loved it! The place is so nicely decorated with an Urban flare and very very clean! The courtyard is adorable and perfect if you bring your fur babies as well as a perfect spot for your morning coffee or evening wine. The owner made sure we knew were all the places to eat and see, he also checked in with us to see if we needed anything which was SUPER nice! He made sure we even had candles and bath salts and believe me I sat in that big clawfoot tub and listened to music with a nice glass of wine. There are also some really nice bikes available for a stroll to all the nearby parks and restaurants. Itâs so close to everything and our XL large SUV fit in a private parking spot. Great location and exactly what we wanted for the perfect getaway for two! We will definitely be back!!!
My husband and I had an amazing experience staying in the âUrban Cabinâ. Everything was just perfect from the antique bed, with incredibly soft bedding to the old fashioned tub. Extra touches included epsom bath soak, coffee, juice, and yogurt with with an organic flax mix. We especially enjoyed riding the bikes to Forsyth Park and throughout Savannah. I highly recommend staying here if you are a couple looking for anâexperienceâ while you visit Savannah.
This studio is absolute perfection. Close to everything but serene and relaxing. It is is decorated wonderfully with fabulous finishes. The bed has the best linens and it's so comfortable! I didn't want to get out of bed! Richard is a fantastic host! He has a few things for you in the fridge and there was some delicious blueberry granola to snack on. Richard was very communicative and he gives you lots of info about restaurants and things to do. If you're staying in Savannah you should definitely book this gem! I'll be visiting again and I plan on staying here.
My husband and I spent 2 nights here when traveling through Savannah with our dog. While we have visited Savannah many times and it is one of our favorite places, we had not stayed in the Victorian/Starland district. We were able to walk to see different sites and try new restaurants. The apartment was stocked with everything we needed (including breakfast and coffee needs) and our dog had a fenced in yard to explore. Great trip!
This place is a wonderful funky urban cabin. It is a one-room efficiency that sports a grand old LONG claw foot tub. The bed is very comfortable. Best of all are the huge front windows. Richard, the proprietor, is very pleasant and makes sure the stay is all it could be. We like to walk and were able to hike to the historic district and also to the hip neighborhood to the south. At night the string of outdoor lights and those in the fireplace are quite romantic. We would gladly return in the future.
I did not like it at all. The place was real primitive, not very clean. The night stand was a saw horse. The freezer was in need of defrosting, you could not use it.
The charm and sweetness of this place just goes on and on. From the smell of the jazmine the minute you open the gate, to the way your head sinks softly into the down pillows. Its well equipped with all of the essentials. I could stay here forever, honestly. Great experience overall.
My husband and I, and two small dogs, stayed in Richard's Urban Cabin for the month of January. It had everything we needed, a comfortable bed, kitchen supplies, privacy, off-street parking, and Richard even supplied us with starter supplies of granola, yogurt and orange juice. The little apartment is close to everything - well Savannah is small enough, everything is close to everything. We enjoyed walking our dogs in the neighborhood and Forsythe Park, and they enjoyed having a yard to run around in. In summary, we loved the apartment, Savannah and Richard.
My husband and I visited Savannah to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. This property was so homey and hospitable. We even brought our two dogs; they loved being able to run around in the back yard. The house is short walk to Forsyth Park and the historic district, or a quick Uber to downtown and the River Walk. We highly recommend!
This adorable carriage house is tucked behind a stunning old southern home. Richard was beyond accommodating, with pages of recommendations and every little detail you can think of in the apartment. Normally my husband and I struggle to sleep when we are out of town- but this bed was SO comfortable. Thank you for the hospitality, Richard!
